Chris Ballard appears to have struck gold with his 2018 draft class
User Avatar Forum: Airdrop Collection
Posted by: panxing18 - 12-05-2018, 03:57 AM - No Replies

First rounder Quenton Nelson has improved every game and is a big part of why Andrew Luck has had the best protection of his career this season. Speaking of that protection Indianapolis Colts Hats , second rounder Braden Smith has been more than solid at RT. Kemoko Turay playing at defensive end has also stood out rushing the passer on defense. Rookie running backs Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins have played big roles in the offense this season. Among the stars that Ballard has seemingly landed, none of them have had the impact of second round pick Darius Leonard.Considered by many as one of the biggest reaches in the entire draft, Leonard has proved since Day 1 that he was the right selection for the Colts in the second round. On the season, Leonard leads the entire NFL in tackles— 79 tackles— despite missing a game due to an injury. Against the Bills, Leonard lit up the scoreboard with 17 tackles— 12 solo— and a fumble recovery. Now, I typically style these film rooms with positives and negatives from the player’s past performance. There was so little negative to write about, though, that I decided to make it a film room on Leonard’s positives and where I’ve seen the most improvement from him this season. So let’s jump into this weeks film room and see why Leonard is playing like one of the best young linebackers in football this year.PositivesTacklingLeonard has been a tackling machine this year. The Tampa 2 scheme has definitely played a role in his high tackle numbers but ultimately, Leonard is making the plays. He is a sure tackler and is excellent at coming downhill and wrapping up ball carriers, against the run and the pass. He has a natural feel for defending the run which allows for him to be in the right position most of the time. Our first clip shows exactly what we’ve seen from Leonard all season. The Colts’ cover 2 scheme is designed to drop the linebackers in zone coverage over the middle to prevent intermediate, middle of the field throws. In theory, this is optimal as it keeps all underneath throws right in front of the linebackers. Leonard makes this scheme look ingenious as he routinely comes downhill to make tackles. He limits so many potential big plays to small gains due to his speed and tackling ability. Here, Leonard bursts out of his zone to make a tackle on an underneath throw. Most importantly, this is an open field tackle. It is so important for linebackers to make these one-on-one tackles in space, as a missed tackle can result in a big play. Leonard rarely makes those mistakes. Once he gets a player in his sights Indianapolis Colts Womens Hoodie , he typically makes the tackle. Most rookies fail to break down properly or aim their bodies at the ball carrier incorrectly. Darius Leonard does not have that problem.Run DefenseLeonard has excelled as a run defender. The Colts have a top 5 rush defense in all of football in regards of yards per rush. Leonard is aggressive and shoots gaps well. When he is able to get a hand on the ball carrier, he consistently has enough strength to drag the runner down. His tackling ability shows out in this area as well. In this first clip, Leonard shoots the gap to the left side of the screen. The run is to the right so Leonard is forced to fight off his block and work back to the other side of the formation. Leonard spins off of his blocker then quickly gets back up field and makes the tackle. The ability to work off of his block and locate the ball carrier is what makes Leonard so good in run defense. He always has his head on a swivel and is constantly locating and pursuing the ball carrier. Great play to work back to the ball after initially being out of the play. This next clip starts with the Bills running an inside trap play where the tight end is tasked with blocking Leonard. Leonard diagnoses the play and shoots the A gap. He blows up the lead block from the tight end and is able to get a hand on the runner and bring him down. This play is just great because it is designed to take Leonard out of the play. Where he wins is how he diagnoses it quickly and realizes he needs to initiate the contact on the lead blocker. Great play to blow up the block and still bring down the runner.EffortOne major part of Leonard’s game that has been severely overlooked this season is his pure effort on every single play. You don’t lead the NFL in tackles by being the most skilled or being in the best scheme. Those factors obviously play a large role but having the ability to make tackles all over the field takes pure effort. Leonard showcases his excellent effort and pure heart on every single play.Look at how much ground Leonard covers here on his fumble recovery. He could have easily given up chase once he saw Mike Mitchell make the tackle, but he continues the pursuit and is able to be in prime position to recover the fumble. Sure there is athleticism involved with covering this much ground, but the effort to continually pursue the play is commendable.Again look at the effort here by Leonard to make a play almost thirty yards down the field. He is well out of the play once this ball is thrown down the field. Yet, he never breaks sprint and is able to get all the way down the field for the tackle. Plays like this just contribute to why he leads the NFL in tackles at this point. Where he has improvedPass defenseLeonard struggled early in the season in pass coverage. By struggled, I mean struggled compared to how he is playing most of the time. The main issue I had early in the year was that he wasn’t feeling out plays or really anticipating much in pass defense. A lot of what he was doing was just sitting back in his zone and making tackles rather than anticipating what the quarterback was doing and breaking up passes. Although I still see struggles here, I think he has improved greatly. He is disrupting pass routes more regularly now and anticipating much better. He is trusting his instincts and film study much more as the season progresses. This first clip showcases the Colts in a rare coverage; man defense. Leonard is matched up with the running back. Even before the ball is snapped, Leonard is able to diagnose what his match up is going to do. Rather than just running to the running back to cover him, Leonard runs to a spot that he believes the running back’s route will take him to. Even though the quarterback never looks Leonard’s way here, he is in perfect position from trusting his instincts in coverage. This next rep shows Leonard disrupting a play from zone coverage. The Bills have a double slant concept called and Leonard notices it right away.Rather than just sitting in his zone and waiting for the ball though, Leonard jams the inside slant. This disruption of the route contributes to the quarterback holding the ball a second longer and allows for the pressure to make a play. Also, if the ball would not have been batted at the line, Kenny Moore could have been able to peel off the inside guy and make a play on the outside due to Leonard’s heads up play. Patience in run defenseOne major improvement that Leonard has made from the preseason to now is his patience in run defense. Rather than over-committing on plays, Leonard is now sifting through traffic and keeping his head up. He is doing much more reading of plays rather than just shooting gaps and hoping he is running into the ball carrier. This has resulted in even more tackles than when he started the season. Here is the best example I was able to find from the last game. Leonard reads the play and strafes down the line. Rather than ducking under the block or shooting up field to force the play inside Womens Customized Indianapolis Colts Jerseys , Leonard calmly resets then stacks and sheds the lineman to make the tackle. He always keeps his eyes on the ball carrier while he is shedding the blocker. This maturity shows development in this area. Great sign of improvement. AnalysisSo, what did we learn about Darius Leonard? Kind of what we already knew, that he is playing really well. He is excelling in a scheme tailored to his strengths and is taking full advantage of the early playing time he is getting. He excels as a tackler in open space and is great at plugging up holes in run defense. His natural athleticism combined with great effort only add to his historic tackle totals this far into the season. He is continually improving in pass defense as he is learning to trust his instincts more each and every game. Overall Leonard is perhaps the brightest part about a 2-5 football team. He has all the ability in the world to be a top linebacker in this league and at the moment he certainly is playing like it. It has gotten to the point where we are shocked if he doesn’t get 15 tackles a game. Leonard will continue to improve and looks to be a staple of the Colts’ defense for many many years.Roster Update: Colts sign CB Lenzy Pipkins, release D.J. White With the practice squad finalized, the Indianapolis Colts are making a change to the unit. The Colts announced Tuesday that they have added cornerback Lenzy Pipkins back to the roster, but this time he will be on the scout team. To make the move happen, Indianapolis is releasing D.J. White — who was on the practice squad. The Colts traded for Pipkins, who was a member of the Green Bay Packers, back on August 26 in exchange for Antonio Morrison. The Colts selected Morrison out of Florida with the 126th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Pipkins played 12 games during his rookie season with the Packers, tacking on 17 tackles — 13 solo — and one pass defensed. Pipkins was originally signed by Green Bay after going undrafted during the 2017 draft. In college, Pipkins appeared in 47 games at Oklahoma State — starting 22 games and finishing with 122 tackles, three interceptions and two sacks. White was added to the practice squad after being waived by Indianapolis on September 1. White has appeared n 13 career games in his time with the Colts and Chiefs.

Fantasy Start or Sit: Colts vs Bengals Week One The

NFL regular season is finally here Authentic Quenton Nelson Jersey , which means fantasy football becomes more impactful. Here’s the weekly edition of Stampede Blue’s start or sit. Start: Jordan Wilkins and Joe Mixon, Running BackThe hamstring injury to Marlon Mack has put a cloud of doubt on whether he will be ready for Sunday’s game, and Robert Turbin will not be in action due to the fact he will be serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing drugs. That means a heavy workload should be heading towards the way of Jordan Wilkins. Wilkins may not be in the same tier of starting running backs with Todd Gurley, Le’Veon Bell, or David Johnson — but success in fantasy football is predicated around players who will have the ball in their hands the most. Behind an offensive line that is working towards being good again, Wilkins showed flashes of his potential when the line blocks effectively, carrying the ball 13 times for 47 yards in the first two games of the preseason. Against the San Francisco 49ers, the former Ole Miss star carried the ball 14 times for 27 yards. While the yardage isn’t as high as fans may have hoped for, the fact that he’s getting the reps is a good sign for fantasy owners looking for a plug in player in their lineup. Another aspect of Wilkins’ game that may have gone unnoticed is his ability to catch the ball out of the back field, grabbing five throws for 57 yards. With that, he has a lot of potential with the amount of reps that are about to come his way — if Mack indeed sits out week one. On the other side of the ball, the Bengals have a supremely talented running back in Joe Mixon. It’s no surprise the Colts will be a work in progress on defense this year Authentic Ryan Kelly Jersey , which means they are bound to give up some fantasy points to running backs and receivers. One of the biggest holes in the run defense for Indianapolis is right up the middle. The Colts struggled at times throughout the preseason to stop the run in the A gap (between the center and guard). Start: Jack Doyle or Eric Ebron, Tight EndThe Colts are still looking for a wide receiver to step up as the go-to No. 2 guy, which means Andrew Luck is bound to target TY Hilton a numerous amount of times. But Luck can’t throw to Hilton on every single pass play, and that means Jack Doyle and Eric Ebron should see a lot of targets head in their direction.Ebron showed a lot of promise in the preseason with Luck behind center, catching nine passes for 73 yards and touchdown — which was Luck’s first and only touchdown throw of the four preseason games. Ebron is a big target, standing at 6-foot-5. If the Colts can get a lot of red-zone appearances, then the former Detroit Lion tight end should see targets in that area. On the other side of the spectrum, Doyle is coming off his best season of career in 2017 — tallying 80 catches and four touchdowns. Doyle didn’t get a lot of reps in the four preseason contests, but that shouldn’t be alarming to fantasy owners. A year ago, Doyle was targeted nine times or more in ten of the 16 games. With an upgrade at quarterback, owners should expect the same amount, with a lot more results. The Colts made some big moves today in preparation for their Thursday night matchup against the New England Patriots. First Womens Matt Slauson Jersey , running back Robert Turbin has been elevated to the active roster after being suspended for the first 4 games of the season. Turbin provides a tough downhill runner that the Colts lack, and is the kind of reliable runner they desperately need tonight. Having missed time, he will likely have limited snaps, but works well situationally as a short yardage back and will definitely make an impact on the game. Additionally, they have elevated CB Lenzy Pipkins and LB Skai Moore to the active roster. They’ll provide much needed depth at two positions where injuries have left the Colts pretty thin. The Colts signed Skai Moore as an undrafted free agent and saw him perform well in his role while they were without Anthony Walker Jr. during the preseason. Walker has come back and played really well, but it is good to see Moore make his way back to the active roster to bolster the linebacker room. Hopefully that move isn’t related to Darius Leonard’s availability tonight.Lenzy Pipkins was acquired in the Colts’ trade with the Packers in which they sent Antonio Morrison to Green Bay. He has been back and forth from the practice squad to the active roster, but tonight could see a chance to make an impact with the absence of Quincy Wilson, Kenny Moore, and with Nate Hairston still listed as questionable. The Colts will need all the help they can get in tonight’s game, and hopefully these guys can take advantage of this opportunity to show what they can do.Correspondingly the Colts have waived two defensive ends, Tarell Basham and Al-Quadin Muhammad. Basham, the Colts’ 3rd round pick from 2017 has been unable to crack the roster Womens Jabaal Sheard Jersey , never really showing the flashes that prompted the Colts selecting him. It was initially thought that the scheme defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus was going to implement would favor Basham’s strengths, but he has been unable to make any impact and has been surpassed by rookies and free agents on a line that has been largely effective without him. In his time with the Colts Basham has played in 16 games, has 5 total tackles, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble. Al-Quadin Muhammad was brought in off waivers back in September after the Saints, who drafted him in the 6th round of 2017’s draft, released him. In his time with the Colts this season he played in 4 games and recorded 6 total tackles.Based on the way the Colts have bounced players back and forth between the active roster and practice squad, this is by no means an indication that either player will be out of work for long. Time will tell if they get a second chance.

Stampede Blue PPR Fantasy Football Draft Guide

2018 No worries Authentic Andrew Luck Jersey , friends. This won’t be hidden behind any paywall. The analysis in this guide is meant to be more of a broad approach to crushing your draft that takes place later this week or next. You know, the one you’ve yet to accept the invite to? I’m looking at you, Kyle.If you’ve never drafted before, lemme help you out. Don’t use the default draft rankings on whatever client you’re going to use to draft! If you are going to use them, edit them and give your absentee self a chance! I can show you why you should do this if you simply log into your draft that has yet to happen. On your team’s page is a link that says something like “edit pre-draft player rankings”. Click on that. It’ll take you to a page that looks like this. My team name is rad. I know.If you click on an individual position, one of the things I’d like you to do is look at the far right column. That column is that players’ expected point total this season. For the most part, if you look at the expected points and the rankings, they appear to line up at the top of each position. Beyond the top five players or so, though, there is a significant difference between a player’s ranking versus their projected totals and I think it’s set up this way to foil auto-drafters.A lot of people don’t use anything but the default rankings anyway. You should edit these so you don’t have to use anything else and give yourself a leg up on your cohorts!TLDR: EDIT YOUR PRE-DRAFT RANKINGS!Successful fantasy teams are deep and don’t crumble to a single player getting injured, much like actual NFL teams. Isn’t that interesting? That said, most people are in the weeds from the 4th round on in drafts I’ve done so far, and that’s partially because we’re only halfway through preseason by the time you read this. I’ve reordered the ESPN default rankings and I have another tool I use, ( https://jayzheng.com/ff/#/draft-aid ) to make drafting easier.I’ve done 9 drafts so far (actual leagues) and have varied between 8/10/12 man leagues.Let’s look at the first 10 players being drafted the most often in PPR leagues so far this year according to FantasyPros.Todd Gurley - LAR - RBLe’Veon Bell - PIT - RBDavid Johnson - ARI - RBEzekiel Elliott - DAL - RBAntonio Brown - PIT - WRAlvin Kamara - NO - RBSaquon Barkley - NYG - RBDeAndre Hopkins - HOU - WROdell Beckham, Jr. - NYG - WRJulio Jones - ATL - WRThere are 6 running backs and 4 wide receivers being taken in the first ten picks of the average PPR draft. Notice how there are no QBs taken in the Top 10? There’s a reason for that. Outside of Brady and Rodgers, which you’d have to sacrifice a pick that should have gone to your RB/WR corp, the point disparity between the 3rd ranked QB and the 17th ranked QB over the entire season is less than 20 points, or just over 1 point per week. You say, “I don’t understand big words, Jared. In fact, you’re making me nervous.” Here’s your big bolded commandBig GrinO NOT DRAFT A QUARTERBACK IN THE FIRST SEVEN ROUNDS IF YOU WANT TO WIN YOUR LEAGUE UNLESS YOUR MOST UP TO DATE DRAFT SHEET SHOWS THAT BRADY/RODGERS FELL TO YOU AND IN THAT CASE, SNAP OUT OF IT. YOU’RE DREAMING. QB2 BRADY (RANKED 55TH) AND QB1 RODGERS (RANKED 42ND) WILL BOTH GO TOP 30 AND YOU AREN’T FOLLOWING THAT UP WITH A QB PICK TOO. YOU ARE NOT A LEMMING!Based on this, we can say that we are very likely to take a running back with our first round pick unless a minimum of Le’Veon Bell, Todd Gurley, David Johnson, and Ezekiel Elliott (in any order, roughly speaking) are off the board. If you aren’t taking Zeke with the 4th pick, Antonio Brown is the only WR coming off the board in the first five picks that I won’t mock you for taking. I’ve been told to give analysis. After the first five picks, there is a 60% chance you take the best WR left rather than the 5th or 6th overall RB (Kamara and Barkley, respectively). Does that make sense? You don’t have to do that. A lot of people that play competitive fantasy football live by “RB in Round 1 or bust”. I disagree. My draft earlier today, for example, I took DeAndre Hopkins (WR2) 9th in a 10-man PPR draft. I scooped Melvin Gordon (RB7) Round 2 and ran away with the draft from there, but you get my point. You can absolutely take one of the marquee WRs with your first round pick and still have a strong roster. To summarize:Our first round rule is RB unless you’re taking Brown 4th or later, then it’s a coin-flip the rest of the round. You can’t miss with any guy ranked 6-10 with picks 6-10. Miss me with that “who should I take 7th” question. You have to be in the moment and look at the information you have available to you at that time. Best player available? Probably a RB?YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME WITH DRAFT SHEETS BECAUSE THERE ARE A MILLION OF THEM AND THEY SHOULD CHANGE DAILY BECAUSE THIS IS A VIOLENT SPORT AND PLAYERS GET HURT EVERY DAY. IF YOUR DRAFT SHEET CAME OUT IN JULY OR EARLY AUGUST (ESPN Womens Eric Ebron Jersey , I’m looking at you), THEN YOU’RE LIKELY GOING TO DRAFT WITH AN OUTDATED DRAFT SHEET.You don’t need sheets or lists to pore over. There are so many sheets out there. Seriously, Google “Fantasy Football PPR Draft Sheet”. You can sift for days. Most of the draft sheets available to us are not updated regularly. As a general rule that no one follows, DON’T DRAFT A K OR D/ST UNLESS YOU HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF WINNING YOUR LEAGUE AND INTEND TO SURVIVE SIMPLY AS A MEME. Any draft I’ve ever done, someone always takes a defense in like the 6th round. I am free to assume (given the depth available at WR/RB) if you take a defense in the middle of a draft that you aren’t a football fan. This means you have run out of names of players you know and have moved on to team names. Your K and D/ST score as many points as your 4th or 5th RB/WR per annum and we have to consider injuries to your starters. During your season, look at the projected points for your K/D/ST and then look at your FLEX spot. If your K or D/ST is projected to outscore your FLEX player, you’ve made mistakes during your draft that you can avoid this year.It starts with understanding that we are going to draft 1QB, 1TE, 1K, 1D/ST and we need multiple WR and RB per week to be competitive. We need more options as the season goes by and we need to prioritize depth at those positions and worry less about our TE/QB situation during the draft for the simple reason that if you look at projected fantasy points for QBs using the default rankings, Alex Smith (WAS - QB) is projected to score 288 points this year. He’s being drafted outside of the Top 15 QBs (basically he isn’t being drafted at all), and if you sort the QB rankings by projected points, 288 points puts Alex Smith at QB6 by season’s end. Basically, don’t reach, youngblood!Rob Gronkowski (NE - TE) is TE1 and comes in ranked 20th overall. If you take him prior to the 3rd round, you’re probably reaching to do so because there’s an above 50 percent chance he misses games, and guys like TE2 Kelce (KC - TE)and TE3 Ertz (PHI - TE) could wind up outpacing him. Kelce and Ertz are ranked 32nd and 47th, respectively. Again, don’t reach! You could be drafting your 2nd WR or RB or even your FLEX, which are more important to you over the course of your season.I’m not at all saying you take your QB in the 13th round, your TE in the 14th, you K in the 15th and a D/ST last, but ideally you’ll be one of the last to take each or close to it. It’s also acceptable to take any player you want when they’re the best player available (BPA) according to whatever rankings you have or draft sheet you use.TE7 Evan Engram (NYG - TE) went down with a concussion a few days ago. Should/could this impact his ADP?Marqise Lee (JAX - WR) went down with a really bad knee injury. Who steps up? Rookie Keelan Cole? What did we learn today? Nothing! Perfect.Edit your pre-draft rankings. You can do this by sorting by projected points if you don’t have another resource to use. That said, find another resource to support your rankings!Draft the best running back or wide receiver available, for the most part, during the first several rounds of your draft (and then do it for most of the rest of the rounds as well). Remember that you have to play at least two RB/WRs per week.If a QB or TE falls to you based on the rankings you have during your draft, take them. You can even reach a little! They won’t, so don’t take a QB or TE until after the 7th round as a good guideline.Take your Kicker and D/ST with your final two picks. You can save yourself from being mocked and ridiculed by your friends by doing so.Lastly, have fun and do what makes you happy. Don’t fret about not having the most up to date draft sheet. No one does. For all we know, Andrew Luck will be the Colts leading rusher and Jack Doyle will be the 2nd receiver. Where does it say that on your draft sheet? As I am primarily satisfied with Quenton Nelson’s film, I thought moving around to other players made sense. For those who are worried that Nelson could somehow regress and I won’t catch it, no worries. I have clips for Nelson this week as well. I plan to add another Film Room feature or two on Saturday. The Indianapolis Colts have struggled to find a consistent and reliable option at right tackle. Veterans Denzelle Good and Joe Haeg have both had opportunities, and free agents Austin Howard and J’Marcus Webb were not long-term options — Howard didn’t make the final roster and Webb is on the injured reserve with Joe Haeg. The last player listed as the Colts starting right tackle in consecutive seasons was Gosder Cherilus from 2013-2014.Needless to say, it has been a slow process finding a player who can hold down the position long-term. While it is certainly too early to definitively state that the Colts have found the answer http://www.indianapoliscoltsteamonline.c...ods-jersey , the last two games have given rookie Braden Smith an opportunity to stake a claim.Let’s take a look at the good and bad from the Week 6 and 7.Per usual, we will focus on the snaps where Smith struggled before we move to plays where he showed his greatest potential. Here, Smith (#72) takes on Bills edge rusher Trent Murphy (#93) and does a nice job at initial contact to force him wide. He allows his arms to drop and at the second pause you can see Murphy get into his chest. This allows Murphy to push him back into the pocket, forcing Luck to escape. This is a pressure and could be a hit, if the defender is able to grab Luck’s arm. This is another red zone play where pressure gets to Luck. In this case, Luck has to force the ball into the middle of the field for an incompletion. Smith is responsible for the pressure because he gets fixated on Steve McLendon (#99) and Leonard Williams (#92). If he quickly realizes that both players are slanting inside, he can keep his head on a swivel and redirect Brandon Copeland (#51) before he can get into Luck’s face. He doesn’t, so Copeland gets a free shot on Luck and the pass is forced into double-coverage.Oddly, three of the five plays where Smith struggled were in the red zone. This is a running play where Smith gets out of his stance horribly. His weight is over his toes and he leans to create contract with Jordan Phillips (#97). Phillips pulls the stool out from under him by hesitating and moving laterally. For all intents and purposes, once Smith is off balance, the play is over.It is strange to point out a negative block on a running play that goes for a long gain but it happens. In this case, Smith is asked to make a block in space at the second level. As the film highlights, rather than taking an angle on the linebacker, he plants his left foot and drives straight ahead. By the time he closes the gap, he is left chasing. Luckily, the linebacker who doesn’t have the speed to catch Mack in the hole.He also runs into a human wall called Quenton Nelson who is having his way with Leonard Williams. Two games, five negative plays. Perhaps the least egregious of them is losing to Leonard Williams who starts this play with inside leverage. Similar to the play above, where Smith takes a bad angle in space, he needs to immediately attack Williams’ inside shoulder and get to the inside. He engages with a wide but square base and cannot keep Williams from moving down the line to get an arm into the running lane. This mistake is what trips up Mack and ends what could have been a longer gain. What you will see in the next clips is consistent with what you will commonly see from Smith on edge rush attempts. He looks natural out of his stance, has long arms that he gets into the defender’s body early, allowing him to control Jeremiah Attaochu (#55) throughout the play. There are 14 or more clips in two games where the rep looks almost identical to this one. This is another example of an edge rush attempt by Jordan Jenkins (#48). While Smith doesn’t stonewall players with his anchor in the way Nelson does, he doesn’t have to. He is able to anchor and redirect. Jenkins has no chance once his anchor is set. This is a bull rush attempt by Trent Murphy. It is an impressive show of strength given that Smith has allowed Murphy to get his hands into his chest. Holding this block allowed Mack to escape into space and catch the dump-off pass for a touchdown. This rep shows how well and how easily Smith mirrors against edge rushers. Shaq Lawson (#90) attempts to get the edge and fails. When he attempts to spin back to the inside, Smith maintains his balance and maintains leverage. Luck has all kinds of time and all kinds of room to get off a clean pass. While it’s encouraging to see Smith show aptitude on the edges, defenders won’t always press him there. How can he do when he is forced to work laterally on the inside? He is again matched up with Shaq Lawson, who attempts to slant inside. He is quickly able to engage and square up the defender. His feet are wide but his anchor is set and he remains balanced. Lawson had no chance on this play. The defender takes a different approach on this snap. Smith has to anchor against the bull rush. Not only does he keep his balance and not over-commit on the initial edge move, he also keeps his base and forces the defender to redirect. He mirrors the inside movement and keeps pressure out of Luck’s face. What about run blocking? As the Colts are driving into the red zone against Buffalo they draw up an off-tackle run with Mo Alie-Cox helping to set the edge. Smith needs to get outside leverage to seal defenders from sliding down the line, in an effort to plug up the running lane. He does a nice job of getting leverage and forces the defender seven yards down the field. On a similar play, Smith is asked to explode inside and cut off any lateral movement by the defensive line. That huge traffic jam of players all bunched up crates the traffic Mack needs to scoot outside for a nice run. Smith’s block played an important role on breaking a nice run.One area Smith struggled in preseason was keeping his balance and displaying good timing on pull blocks. Here he blows up Tremaine Edmunds (#49) and gives Mack a ton of run to run behind him.The final play is another example of Smith pulling down to blow up Edmunds. Mack has a nice running lane form in front of him because he doesn’t have to contend with any defenders in the hole. ANALYSISAs one would expect, Smith has some things to clean up. Still, five bad reps in two games — his first two regular season NFL starts, at a position he didn’t play much in college — is encouraging. The most encouraging parts of his film is that he looks natural defending speed rushers on the edge and has shown considerable improvement pulling. He is very smooth in his movement and is strong enough that he doesn’t have to overplay the defender. If he can improve his angles and keep rushers from getting their hands into his chest, he could be really good.

Dak Prescott's mind is on the next throw, the next scramble,

Through every interception Authentic Zack Martin Jersey , fumble and loss,  the next game for the Dallas Cowboys. The quarterback of America's Team thinks of where he's been: almost exactly five years removed from his mom, Peggy Prescott, dying of colon cancer when her son was a 20-year-old sophomore at Mississippi State. That makes it easier for him to move on in his football world."When you lose your mom, it's not that easy," Prescott said. "That's something you've got to wake up every day, looking yourself in the face and knowing that you've got an angel. You've got an angel that has expectations for you to do and you've got to go out there and do them each and every day."And that's why the expectations of others won't faze Prescott with the losses almost as frequent as the victories since he led a franchise-record 11-game winning streak that helped him earn NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2016.The struggling Dallas offense, more specifically the passing game , appears to be the biggest obstacle for the Cowboys as they try to return to the playoffs after falling short during Prescott's less-than-stellar encore last year. He figures his football-loving mom would be right there with the rest of the critics, with a caveat."She'd let me know how she felt about our struggles and about the mistakes and those type of things Authentic Tyron Smith Jersey ," Prescott said. "Simply on the other hand of having the confidence in me of fixing them and in our team of fixing them and getting back to playing the type of ball we want to play as a team."Prescott paused in the middle of the season during the Cowboys' open week for a cause that will endure for him regardless of which direction his career goes. His role in Bristol-Myers Squibb's "Ready. Raise. Rise." campaign is one of his cancer awareness initiatives from a platform Prescott's mom envisioned after she was diagnosed.Whether she could have seen it coming through her son's sudden stardom as quarterback of one of the world's most visible pro sports franchises is another question."I think she definitely did," said Prescott, who has been part of a campaign that led to a $250,000 donation to cancer advocacy groups. "And she had plans and she had dreams for me."Prescott remembers watching with his mom when Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre played a night after his father died and threw for 399 yards and four touchdowns in Green Bay's 41-7 win over Oakland in 2003."She said, 'I want you to play if that ever happens,'" Prescott said. His mom died on a Sunday — the day after he threw three interceptions in a loss to South Carolina when he knew something was wrong because his mom hadn't texted or called him back before the game. The funeral was on a Wednesday — three days before a loss to Texas A&M."And I said, 'I've got to get back. My mom would be mad that I even missed that practice that I missed yesterday,'" Prescott recalled. "I could say that's the moment that I started allowing my mom to be my story, doing the things that she told me and she taught me."His Mississippi State teammates saw it when Prescott led the Bulldogs to the first No. 1 ranking in school history a year later, before a loss to Nick Saban and Alabama. His Dallas teammates saw it when he showed up as the forgotten fourth-round pick and third-stringer behind franchise passing leader Tony Romo. After backup Kellen Moore broke an ankle in training camp and Romo injured his back in a preseason game, Prescott got his chance. Romo never got his job back."He's had the same qualities from Day One, as a rookie to now Womens Maliek Collins Jersey ," receiver Cole Beasley said. "Hasn't changed at all. I don't know if he had many bad games in 2016. But I know he has always been the same guy whether good or bad since I've known him."Those qualities have been tested, with a 14-13 record since his remarkable 11-1 start and more interceptions, fumbles and sacks. While owner and general manager Jerry Jones keeps using stronger language to suggest he's settled on his quarterback of the future, doubters are numerous outside Cowboys headquarters."When you have a guy that's a winner, boy, hard to pass up on guys that are winners," said Florida coach Dan Mullen, who was Prescott's coach at Mississippi State. "There's all kinds of different quarterbacks. A winner's a winner. That's the first thing I look for in quarterbacks."Ask Prescott how he thinks he needs to improve, and he'll say in everything. A Cowboys fan as a kid growing up near the Texas state line in Louisiana, Prescott longs to end a Super Bowl drought that's approaching 25 years. But there's a small part of Prescott that would concede he's already a winner, looking back over five years since his mom died, and 25 months since he was the opening day quarterback with Dallas fans wondering if another season was lost because of another Romo injury."My mom's definitely an emotional woman http://www.dallascowboysteamonline.com/l...ins-jersey ," Prescott said, slipping into the present tense."So it'd be tears, it'd be a lot of tears in the last 25 months. She asked me when she initially got sick to allow her to be my story. She said all greats have a story. So for my mom to say that back in 2013 to where we are now, I think she'd be proud." It’s week nine and the Cowboys are back for Monday Night Football. With Washington losing to the Falcons, this is a big game for the Cowboys to help themselves inside the NFC East. Let’s take a look at the inactives list for both squads to see who has the advantage.Cowboys Inactives There are few surprises on this list for the Cowboys. With both Randy Gregory and David Irving OUT the Cowboys pass rush will take a big hit against a Titans offensive line that has struggled to keep Marcus Mariota upright. It sounds as if Rico Gathers, Dalton Schultz, and Blake Jarwin will handle the TE role as Geoff Swaim sits with a sprained MCL. The good news is Zack Martin is UP after spraining his MCL against the Redskins. This is huge news for a Cowboys offensive line that has been quite disappointing so far this season.Titans Inactives For the Titans, the inactives list isn’t quite as bad. The biggest name on the list is Derrick Morgan who has had a pretty nice career with Tennessee since 2010. The Titans have struggled defending the run recently, but have been getting after the quarterback much better than they have in recent years. This is a HUGE game for the 3-4 Dallas Cowboys, and with the recent injuries to the Redskins and Eagles roster, the NFC East is wide open for the taking. Can the Cowboys capitalize on Monday Night Football? We’ll find out here shortly.

Jason Witten will make his long-awaited return to AT&T Stadium on Monday, November 5th, 2018 when he works his first Dallas Cowboys game as a the color analyst for Monday Night Football. Coincidentally, and amazingly, it will happen on the one-year anniversary of when Tony Romo returned for his first time a season ago.The Cowboys are sort of getting used to welcoming their former stars that have ascended to the booth. It provides for a weird sort of situation with them calling games for the team they just played on, but that weirdness quickly fades into fun and intrigue. When Tony Romo returned on November 5th Youth Anthony Brown Jersey , 2017 for the Cowboys home date against the Kansas City Chiefs he was treated to banners in the endzone and a special welcome home video that was narrated by Jason Witten himself. Our own Danny Phantom speculated as to whether or not Tony Romo will return the favor and narrate Jason Witten’s video, but we’ll have to wait until Monday night to find that out. One thing we don’t have to wait for is to see what Jason Witten’s banner looks like. It’s very similar to Tony Romo’s, just with the name, number, and new place of work altered.Monday night will definitely be emotional. Let’s hope it results in a win, too.
