Defensive tackle Geno Atkins and defensive end Carlos Dunlap both signed contract extensions with the Bengals on Tuesday that tie them to the team through at least the 2021 season and they met the media to talk about the deals on Wednesday.
Atkins said that the path to the four-year John Gibson Jersey , $65 million contract he signed was “business as usual” and said that it shows the team is willing to take care of its own players. It’s the third contract Atkins has signed since being drafted in 2010 and this one will take him through his age 34 season, which is a sign of how much success he’s had since coming to Cincinnati.
That individual success hasn’t been matched by the team and Atkins said that changing that is his top priority as he plays out his new deal.
“They were the team that drafted me,” Atkins said, via ESPN.com. “I love it here. I love the city. I love the organization. It’s something to cement my legacy here and I think that’s important to finish where I started. We’ve got unfinished business, this whole team Filip Forsberg Jersey , and me and ‘Los are trying to bring a Super Bowl to Cincinnati.”
Dunlap confirmed that he shares Atkins’ goal and predicted 2018 will be “a special season” for the Bengals, who are looking for their first trip to the postseason since the 2015 season.
SALT LAKE CITY — Donovan Mitchell is doing everything he can to bolster his case to win Rookie of the Year honors during the first round of the NBA playoffs.
Mitchell took over the fourth quarter to help the Utah Jazz claim a 102-95 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday and even the series at 1-1. He scored 13 of his team-high 28 points in the fourth quarter. It helped the Jazz erase a double-digit third-quarter deficit and gave them room to pull away late.
“The thing about Donovan’s game is he just continued to attack,” Utah coach Quin Snyder said after the game. “I thought when he really got aggressive going to the rim, some other things opened up.”
Stopping the first-year guard on late game possessions will obviously top the Thunder’s agenda when the series returns to Salt Lake City for Game 3 on Saturday night. Executing such a defensive plan will be easier said than done.
Mitchell is averaging 27.5 points through the first two games in the series. He has scored 55 points in his first two playoff games, which is the most by a guard in NBA history.
His efforts have been complemented by aggressive play from Derrick Favors around the basket. Favors is averaging 13.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in the postseason and posted career playoff highs in points (20) and rebounds (16) in Game 2 against the Thunder.
At one point Geoff Swaim Jersey , he had snared eight offensive rebounds through 2 1/2 quarters. Oklahoma City had only six offensive rebounds as a team through the same stretch.
“It definitely helped me for the rest of the game, just trying to find ways to be aggressive and make an impact,” Favors said.
The Thunder are looking to regain an edge in Game 3 after getting off to another slow start and enduring an even worse finish in Game 2. Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony and Paul George combined for two points on 0-of-14 shooting in the fourth quarter. Oklahoma City managed just 16 points in the fourth quarter.
It allowed Mitchell to go on a tear and erase a 77-67 third-quarter lead built behind a 19-0 run.
“We just didn’t make shots in that fourth quarter,” Anthony said. “We worked so hard in the third quarter to get the lead back and played so well to get back and go up (10) in that third quarter. Fourth quarter http://www.indianapoliscoltsteamonline.c...ope-jersey , we just didn’t shoot the ball well.”
It didn’t help that Steven Adams was limited by foul trouble. He picked up two early fouls in the first half, played just 22 minutes, and eventually fouled out with 2:48 left.
With Adams out for large stretches, Favors and Gobert were able to do plenty of damage around the basket. He could not find a way to reverse momentum when he was out there.
“I don’t think Steven was ever able to get into a flow or rhythm for himself because he was battling foul trouble,” Thunder coach Billy Donovan said.
Utah and Oklahoma City split two games in Salt Lake City in the regular season. The Jazz won the first meeting 96-87 on Oct. 21 behind 19 points from Joe Ingles and 16 points and 13 rebounds from Rudy Gobert. The Thunder took the second game 103-89 on Dec. 23 behind 27 points Steven Stamkos Jersey , 10 rebounds and 10 assists from Westbrook.

Brian Burke is stepping down as the Calgary Flames‘ president of hockey operations.
The team said Friday that Burke will leave May 1 Phil Kessel Jersey , ending a nearly five-year run with the organization.
General manager Brad Treliving will direct the hockey operations side along with vice president of hockey operations Don Maloney and assistant general managers Craig Conroy and Brad Pascall.
Calgary was 37-35-10 and missed the playoffs this season, costing coach Glen Gulutzan and assistants Dave Cameron and Paul Gerrard their jobs. Gulutzan was replaced by Bill Peters earlier this week.
Sportsnet said Friday that Burke would join its broadcast team for the playoffs.
Burke was the general manager of the Anaheim Ducks’ 2007 Stanley Cup championship team also has been a GM with the Hartford Whalers, Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs and the U.S. Olympic team,
If other teams worried about LSU running back Derrius Guice’s character, prompting his fall from first-round prospect to late-second-round pick, Washington Redskins senior VP of player personnel Doug Williams figures he had ”inside information.”
The Redskins, Williams said at a post-draft news conference Monday Anthony Barr Jersey Big , did not share the concerns that apparently were behind Guice’s slide until Washington took him with the 59th overall choice after trading down from No. 44 and adding a third-round selection in the process.
Williams called him ”a value pick.”
”We do have some inside information and some influence that helped us along the way. Plus, we had met with the kid. We went to dinner with the kid. We brought the kid up here. Where Guice is from, I’m from the same area, basically. I knew Guice. I knew who he is. I know where he comes from,” Williams said. ”And when you talk about a kid that has produced on the field the way he has, other than what was out there, and you look at this kid, man Jake Muzzin Jersey , he’s just a happy-go kid who likes to play football. And I think we were fortunate enough to get a guy like that.”
Guice, the SEC record-holder for most 250-yard rushing games, was connected in reports to a flap during his visit with the Eagles, something Philadelphia general manager Howie Roseman denied.
”No one wants to hear their name be slandered like that,” Guice said Saturday during a Redskins draft event at the team’s stadium. The Redskins, he added, ”believed in me; they trusted me.”
Williams said any reports about off-field issues were not a part of Washington’s draft discussion.
”What other teams thought don’t necessarily mean what we thought. … When he’s there at your pick, you have to take advantage of it and pick that guy. And we did that. We didn’t let what other people said influence us. What influenced us is the information that we had gotten from him and the people around him. We had a lot of sources that we talked to Scottie Upshall Jersey ,” the MVP of the 1988 Super Bowl said. ”You and I both know the way social media and the media and a lot of other things happen out there when it comes to players. Most of them take one thing and they run with it. Unfortunately, they don’t know the kid.”
Other topics addressed by Williams:
– The Redskins didn’t draft a tight end and they feel ”pretty good” at that position, Williams said, ”because Jordan Reed is progressing with his injury.” Reed needed surgery on his big left toe.
– Washington needs a starting left guard but didn’t pick someone, he said, because ”there were some guys on the board, but at our pick, those guys weren’t on the board.” Williams also noted that Ty Nsekhe ”has played a little guard.”
– WR Jamison Crowder ”is still the punt returner Womens Victor Rask Jersey ,” Williams said, but ”you certainly want to take a load off Jamison, if you can.”
– The Redskins ”had about two or three calls” from teams interested in trading for the 13th overall pick that Washington used to take Alabama defensive lineman Da’Ron Payne.
Notes: After drafting two defensive linemen, the Redskins released three players at that position Monday: Terrell McClain, A.J. Francis and Montori Hughes. McClain joined Washington as a free agent last offseason, but he started only two games and missed time with a toe injury. The Redskins also waived TE Chris Bazile, LB Cassanova McKinzy and DB James Sample.

Nashville Predators forward Austin Watson was arrested on a charge of domestic assault involving his girlfriend over the weekend.
Franklin Police Lt. Charles Warner said Wednesday that Watson was arrested Saturday evening. Watson was released from jail on $4 Mikko Rantanen Jersey ,500 bond and is due in court June 28.
According to a Williamson County court affidavit, a Franklin police officer was flagged down by a witness to a possible domestic situation at a gas station. The officer noticed the passenger of a car ”trying to back away from being shoved away.” The report said the passenger said ”stop” and was trying to cover her face.
Watson told police he and his girlfriend were having an argument and he admitted to pushing her. Officers said they found red marks on the woman’s chest, and she said Watson had caused them.
Police said the witness provided confirmation.
The affidavit says domestic assault is considered a Class A misdemeanor.
The Predators said in a statement they ”are still gathering facts and it’s not appropriate for us to comment further at this time.” Team officials noted ”this is a matter that we are taking very seriously and we will cooperate fully with the investigation by law enforcement.”
NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said in a statement that the league is aware of the situation and ”it will be dealt with in due course and prior to next season.” Daly added ”our focus currently is on the well-being and safety of Austin’s girlfriend, their child and Austin himself. ”
Last year Alex Goligoski Jersey , Watson appeared alongside other Predators players in a video calling for an end to domestic violence.
The 26-year-old Watson is a former first-round draft pick who scored a career-high 14 goals and had five assists in 76 games during the 2017-18 regular season. He had five goals and three assists in 13 playoff games.
Watson has 23 goals and 24 assists in 216 career regular-season games, all with the Predators.
The NFL preseason is rapidly approaching and teams will soon have to determine their finalized rosters. One position that always seems to be a challenge with finishing this mandatory task is wide receiver. Everyone knows that a team's offense is essentially dictated by their skill at this position and of course, quarterback. With that being stated, a team must pick the best players possible to help with their teams chances of success. With this apparent fact Authentic Dougie Hamilton Jersey , a lot of players each season at wide receiver are let go once the preseason is completed. There is a lot of pressure with this, so teams must be aware of all potential situations that may be thrown their way.
With all that has been stated thus far, in this article, we will be looking at each team's worst wide receiver that they should get rid of. It is quite apparent that every NFL team has a wide receiver under contract that is a bit questionable as to why they would. Sometimes teams keep their wide receivers in hopes that they can reach their full potential Brock McGinn Jersey Kids , but once two or three seasons have passed and they still have minimal roles, it likely means it is time to cut them. In some cases however, players are actually good, but their teams simply have far too much depth to allow them the opportunity to thrive. In these specific cases Juuse Saros Jersey , teams should aim to get something back in return via trade. Whatever the case may be, teams need to move on from these wide receivers in the upcoming season and we as fans should keep our eyes open as to when it actually occurs.
Let's look at the wide receiver on each team that they need to get rid of!

With the playoffs just days away Fred Warner Jersey , Cleveland Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue typically would have his lineup rotations set by now.
Nothing has been typical about this season for the Cavs.
Lue said Thursday that he plans to use a 10-player rotation for Cleveland’s opening-round series against the Indiana Pacers, but that things could change depending on injuries, matchups and performances.
”I will play 10,” Lue said after the Cavaliers watched film on the Pacers, who went 3-1 against Cleveland this season. ”We’ll just see how it looks and if one guy is not great this round, then it might be nine.”
Lue and his staff have been juggling lineups and using different combinations on the floor for months, forced to adjust and re-adjust, first because of injuries and then by a slew of trades that transformed the team.
Lue refused to name his full starting lineup for Sunday’s Game 1. He revealed previously that four of them will be LeBron James, Kevin Love, Jeff Green and George Hill. The other spot could go to veteran shooter Kyle Korver, who has been slowed by a foot injury and whose status remains uncertain.
”He’s getting better,” Lue said of Korver, who also missed time recently following his brother’s death. ”I’m not sure if he’s 100 percent yet, but he’s getting better and that’s all you can ask for.”
If Korver isn’t ready, Rodney Hood, one of four players acquired at the trade deadline, will likely start. He’s been slowed by a sore left Achilles Shayne Gostisbehere Jersey , but Lue said Hood’s ”ready to go.”
As for Cleveland’s reserves, Jordan Clarkson, J.R. Smith and Jose Calderon are in the rotational mix, with forwards Tristan Thompson and Larry Nance Jr. being used depending on whom Indiana has on the floor.
One of the holdovers from Cleveland’s past three Finals teams, Thompson played extended minutes in the second half of Wednesday’s loss to New York while Nance rested, a sign that Lue might be leaning toward him playing more.
Thompson was excused from Thursday’s practice because of the birth of his daughter.
Lue trusts all his players. He’s had no choice following a turbulent regular season in which he didn’t always know who would be available until moments before tipoff. But Lue has depth and intends to use it.
Hall of Fame coach Pat Riley’s philosophy in the playoffs was: ”You rotate eight players. You play seven. You use six and you trust five.”
Not Lue. Not this year.
”You usually go nine,” he said. ”I think we’ve been nine in the past, but I think it’s going to be important to go 10 for us because I like Clarkson being on the floor with a point guard, so that makes us play 10.”
Hill, who has plenty of playoff experience with San Antonio, Indiana and Utah, said Cleveland’s versatility may give the Cavs an advantage.
”I’ve been on a team that played a 10-man rotation in the playoffs, but I haven’t been on a team this deep, so I think we’ll have a lot of great guys that we can throw out there on the court with big lineups, small lineups,” he said. ”I think we can play any type of style.”
For Hill, the matchup against the Pacers represents a homecoming Olli Maatta Jersey , as he played for IUPUI and spent five years with the Pacers. It’s also a chance to win a championship with James, a former playoff nemesis.
Hill played on those Pacers teams that were eliminated in three straight postseasons by James and the Miami Heat.
That can’t happen this time.
”The good thing is we got the best player in the world playing for us,” Hill said. ”So I’m very excited about that. I don’t got to get put out by him this year, which I did a lot in my career. So, I’m happy to be on the other side.”

For most of their half-century in existence, the Phoenix Suns have coveted a big-time center.
In 1969, they lost the coin flip with Milwaukee for Lew Alcindor, now known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and chose Neal Walk at No. 2. The closest they came was Alvan Adams, an All-Star on some very good teams. Shaquille O’Neal made a cameo appearance late in his career.
But a big, young franchise center to build around eluded them – until now.
With the first overall pick in the draft for the first time in franchise history, the Suns believe they have their man in 7-foot-1, 250-pound Deandre Ayton, whose size, athleticism and multiple skills made him the obvious No. 1 overall pick Thursday night.
Suns general manager Ryan McDonough called it ”a historic night for the franchise.”
There was a big cheer from the crowd gathered at Talking Stick Resort Arena for a party to celebrate the highest pick in franchise history. They’ve chosen second overall twice.
”Having my name called to be the first pick for the Phoenix Suns was mind-blowing,” Ayton said. ”Having all the confidence and leading up to that point when I saw (NBA Commissioner) Adam Silver came out, I was just waiting for my name Corey Linsley Jersey , and when he called it, my mind went blank. … and I saw the reaction on my mom’s face. It was just priceless.”
The Suns also got the 10th overall pick, moving up six spots in a trade with Philadelphia to get guard/forward Mikal Bridges of Villanova. Phoenix sent the No. 16 pick, guard Zhaire Smith of Texas Tech, to the 76ers along with Miami’s unprotected first-round pick in 2021.
Ayton will join Devin Booker and Josh Jackson as the core of young talent that the Suns hope will pull them out of their long decline. Phoenix has missed the playoffs the last eight seasons and their 21-61 record last season was the worst in the NBA and second-worst in franchise history.
”The team in general is a very young and hungry team,” Ayton said. ”We just have to stick together, get a great chemistry and start a winning legacy in Phoenix.”
In Brooklyn for the announcement, Ayton wore a sports jacket with an array of colors on the inside lining.
”There’s a few flags in there,” Ayton said. ”My dad is from Nigeria, my mom is Jamaican and Bahamian, so I’m helping all those countries in one. I’m not just a Bahamian. I’m Nigerian and Jamaican. So I just want to let the world know that.”
Ayton was born in the Bahamas but left at age 12, a basketball prodigy who stayed in several Southern California homes and played with various basketball programs, including a season as a teammate of Marvin Bagley III at Hillcrest Prep in Phoenix.
Ayton, a month shy of his 20th birthday, was the Pac-12 player of the year at Arizona last season, averaging 20.1 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. But the Wildcats made an early exit in the NCAA Tournament, losing to Buffalo. Ayton also had to tune out the noise from a federal investigation that ensnared an Arizona assistant coach.
But he emerged above the rest in the pre-draft process.
Ayton worked out for only one team Kevin King Jersey , the Suns, and turned on the charm with the media afterward.
Don’t worry, Ayton assured everyone that day, ”I know I’m going No. 1.”
That workout, McDonough said, was the deal-maker.
”He was first on our board coming into the workout,” McDonough said, ”and then he blew us away in the workout, which I think you guys probably gathered from my tone. I’m usually pretty stoic but I was watching a workout that just was incredible.”
McDonough called Ayton ”just a phenomenal physical talent. Watching him play and then working him out and interacting with him just checked every box for us.”
The 6-foot-7 Bridges is a bonus, a third-team All-American and a member of the 2018 all-Final Four team. When the 76ers drafted him, it looked like a feel-good hometown story since he’s from Philadelphia and his mother Tyneeha Rivers was vice president for human resources for the 76ers.
Bridges even appeared at a news conference to talk about staying in Philadelphia.
But the Suns wanted him badly and kept pushing for the deal. Finally, the 76ers agreed and Bridges was bound for the desert.
He said there were no hard feelings about the trade.
”I’m excited. It’s a business and you’ve got a lot of talent going down there,” Bridges said. ”I can’t wait to start this up.”
With the 31st pick in the draft, the first in the second round, Phoenix chose point guard Elie Okobo of France, a 20-year-old sharpshooter who scored 44 in a French playoff game. And with the 59th pick – next-to-last overall – the Suns selected forward George King of Colorado.

The National Football League adopted a new policy regarding the national anthem at this week’s league meetings in Atlanta and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell released a statement outlining that policy on Wednesday afternoon.
As reported Jack Mewhort Jersey , the policy calls for all league and team personnel on the field to stand during the playing of the anthem while eliminating the requirement that all league and team personnel be on the field for the playing of the song. It also calls for the league to discipline teams whose personnel do not comply with the policy and allows teams to set their own “work rules” regarding players who do not stand during the playing of the song.
The complete text of that statement appears below:
The policy adopted today was approved in concert with the NFL’s ongoing commitment to local communities and our country — one that is extraordinary in its scope, resources, and alignment with our players. We are dedicated to continuing our collaboration with players to advance the goals of justice and fairness in all corners of our society.
The efforts by many of our players sparked awareness and action around issues of social justice that must be addressed. The platform that we have created together is certainly unique in professional sports and quite likely in American business. We are honored to work with our players to drive progress.
It was unfortunate that on-field protests created a false perception among many that thousands of NFL players were unpatriotic. This is not and was never the case.
This season, all league and team personnel shall stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem. Personnel who choose not to stand for the Anthem may stay in the locker room until after the Anthem has been performed.
We believe today’s decision will keep our focus on the game and the extraordinary athletes who play it — and on our fans who enjoy it.
POLICY STATEMENT
The 32 member clubs of the National Football League have reaffirmed their strong commitment to work alongside our players to strengthen our communities and advance social justice. The unique platform that we have created is unprecedented in its scope, and will provide extraordinary resources in support of programs to promote positive social change in our communities.
The membership also strongly believes that:
1. All team and league personnel on the field shall stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem.
2.The Game Operations Manual will be revised to remove the requirement that all players be on the field for the Anthem.
3. Personnel who choose not to stand for the Anthem may stay in the locker room or in a similar location off the field until after the Anthem has been performed.
4. A club will be fined by the League if its personnel are on the field and do not stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem.
5. Each club may develop its own work rules, consistent with the above principles, regarding its personnel who do not stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem.
6. The Commissioner will impose appropriate discipline on league personnel who do not stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem.
LAS VEGAS — With a surprising run to the Pacific Division title, the expansion Vegas Golden Knights were the feel-good story of the regular season in the National Hockey League.
Now the question is can they continue their storybook season in the Stanley Cup Playoffs? The Golden Knights (51-24-7) host the Los Angeles Kings (45-29-8) in the first game of their best-of-seven first round series on Wednesday night at T-Mobile Arena.
Vegas will be playing a veteran Kings squad that has held up the hardware twice over the last seven seasons. But the Golden Knights have a goalie in Marc-Andre Fleury (29-13-4, 2.24 goals against average) who was a key performer on three Stanley Cup champions in Pittsburgh Womens Charlie McAvoy Jersey , including each of the last two seasons, and have other veterans like forward James Neal who made it to the finals last year with Nashville.
Both will be counted on to provide the kind of leadership that will be necessary to advance in the playoffs.
“It’s more intense,” Fleury said of playoff hockey. “Every little play matters. Every win matters. I think it makes the stakes higher. … It’s fun hockey. Fun to watch.”
“Real excited,” Neal, who had 25 goals, said. “We’ve worked all year to put ourselves in this position, especially with home ice advantage. I think this city and this rink is going to be pretty crazy.”
Vegas finished 29-10-2 at home, where it sold out every contest. But it will be playing a Los Angeles team that split the season series and won both ends of a key back-to-back against the Golden Knights in late February, winning 3-2 in overtime at the Staples Center on a Dustin Brown power-play goal after Anze Kopitar tied it with 10.8 seconds remaining Ryan Murray Jersey , and then coming back the next night at T-Mobile Arena for a convincing 4-1 victory.
“I don’t even remember that,” Kings defenseman Drew Doughty told reporters. “That’s a long time ago already. I know we’re not thinking about those two games. We’re just thinking about the opportunity in front of us, and I know they’re not thinking about it either. Really has no impact on this series. It’s a whole new series.”
The Golden Knights, who finished fifth in the NHL in scoring with an average of 3.3 goals per game, have five players with 20 or more goals, led by center William Karlsson’s 43, and will be playing a physical, hard-checking Kings’ team that ranked No. 1 in goals against (2.46) and penalty kill (85.0 percent) and has a goalie in Jonathan Quick (33-28-3, 2.40 GAA) who also has been the backbone of two Stanley Cup champions.
“It’s about playing fast Rod Brind'Amour Jersey ,” Vegas coach Gerard Gallant, who has rotated four lines all season, said. “We’ve talked about that all year long. When you play fast and you forecheck well, you’re going to get turnovers. People turn over the puck. … You have to force them to turn over the puck. If you give good players time to make plays, they’re going to make them. When we play fast and we play quick, we’re a good team and we get a lot of turnovers.”
“They’ve been probably the fastest team all year, and teams have had a hard time handling that speed,” Brown, who has 28 goals Corey Linsley Jersey , said. “We’ve got to find a way to limit their speed game. I think a lot of it comes from turnovers. They’re really quick in transition.”
Another big key: just how much do the Golden Knights have left in the tank after their emotional roller-coaster ride of a season? Vegas, which was an eye-popping 27-9-2 on Jan. 2, sputtered down the stretch, going just 10-8-3 including an 8-3 home loss to New Jersey and also a 7-1 season-ending clunker at Calgary, a game that Fleury was pulled from after stopping just 12 of the 18 shots he faced.
Doughty believes it comes down to “all the little things” to winning in the playoffs.
“Blocking shots, throwing pucks at the net,” Doughty said. “(There are) a lot of crappy goals that go in during the playoffs. That’s just how it is.”

A former defensive end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the University of Alabama has been arrested on drug charges in Florida.
Pinellas County Jail records show 50-year-old Keith McCants was arrested early Monday near St. Petersburg. He's charged with a felony count of possession of crack cocaine and driving with a revoked or suspended license. He bonded out of jail Mattias Janmark Jersey , but records don't list a lawyer.
Jail records show multiple arrests since 2010. His most recent arrest was in January, for driving with a suspended license. Court records show he faces a July 10 court date.
McCants made the All-America Team at Alabama and was selected fourth overall by the Buccaneers in the 1990 NFL Draft. His career ended in 1995. He also played for the Oilers and Cardinals.
RENTON, Wash. (AP) — There were so few competitions for starting roles when the Seattle Seahawks arrived for training camp that the daily assessment of where things stood with the kicker and punter became a major topic.
The competition ended as expected with veteran Sebastian Janikowski appearing to be a lock as Seattle’s kicker beating out Jason Myers and rookie Michael Dickson as the punter with Jon Ryan’s tenure coming to an end.
So much for any drama. And for Ryan it meant the end for the longest-tenured Seahawks player.
“First, let me say this: Jon Ryan has been a great Seahawk,” Carroll said. “We loved the time we spent together. He’s been here since the beginning, and I know everybody would understand that it’s a very difficult decision when you have to make one like this after all this time together. He was doing great.
“Michael was just kicking out of this world and was doing the things that we had hoped he could do. … It was the right time to help Jon get moving too. So he’s been a great player, been a great competitor, been a great team guy http://www.buffalobillsteamonline.com/jo...yer-jersey , community guy. We love him.”
Dickson was expected to land the punter job from the moment he was selected in the fifth round by Seattle. The Seahawks didn’t invest a draft pick like that without wanting Dickson to win the job. Ryan was kept around in case Dickson struggled or there was an injury, but Seattle was able to save money by letting go of the veteran and going with the rookie from Texas.
“There’s just a lot of things we’re excited about with him and we’re excited to get it going,” Carroll said. “It’s good for him to feel the confidence in the program and that we’re behind him.”
Dickson has been impressive in the first two preseason games, averaging 51.7 yards per kick, with better hang time and directional control than what Ryan showed. Still, while Dickson was excited to win the job, finding out he had arrived with some bittersweet feelings about Ryan’s departure.
“It was something that I was battling for every day, and I wanted to win the spot more than anything Mathieu Perreault Jersey ,” Dickson said. “But it was surprisingly more bittersweet than anything, just because Jon was such a great mentor to me when he was here. He was probably one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. So, yeah, it was a little bittersweet. But I’m super excited.”
Carroll said the decision to release Ryan with two weeks remaining in training camp was also to give him plenty of time to find a new opportunity. It didn’t take long. Ryan signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday.
Janikowski said he’s fully recovered from the back injury that caused him to miss the entire 2017 season. It’s the first time in his career Janikowski has kicked anywhere but Oakland, where he played for 17 seasons and made more than 80 percent of his field goal attempts. He said there was some conversation with the Chargers, but he decided Seattle was the better opportunity.
“It’s a good change,” Janikowski said. “It’s like a start over again, but I feel great.”
Making the decision about the punter and kicker at this point also allows Seattle two weeks of having the duo work together in the kicking game. As simple as holding sounds Authentic Mitchell Marner Jersey , Dickson has limited experience in the job, only starting to do it his final year at Texas. After holding for Myers in the first preseason game, Dickson held for Janikowski last weekend against the Chargers.
“It’s all about timing,” Janikowski said. “I mean, (Tyler Ott) is a great snapper, (Dickson’s a good) holder, it’s all about timing you just have to figure it out with time. And I think we got it down.”
NOTES: Seattle practiced indoors on Tuesday because of the unhealthy air quality in the Seattle area because of smoke from wildfires. … Carroll said WR Doug Baldwin remains on track to be ready for Week 1 at Denver. Baldwin has missed most of training camp with a knee injury, but has resumed running. “He’s really excited about coming back Tanner Pearson Jersey , he’s running. He’ll want to play next week, we’ll just get him back out here (at practice) and we’ll make that determination next week. But he’s going to be there for the opener,” Carroll said. … RB Rashaad Penny was also doing running on the side on Tuesday after having surgery on a broken finger suffered last week in practice. Penny is also expected to be ready for Week 1.

EDMONTON Jacob Markstrom Jersey , Alberta (AP) — The Edmonton Oilers have signed Darnell Nurse to a two-year contract, ending a lengthy stalemate with one of their top defensemen.
The team did not disclose financial terms.
The 23-year-old Nurse led Edmonton blue liners in 2017-18 with six goals and 20 assists in 82 games.
Nurse had said he wouldn’t participate in training camp without a new contract.
The two-year “bridge deal” will keep Nurse in Edmonton until the team can free up some cap space and potentially sign him to a contract worth more money or for a longer term.
It’s a similar type of deal to the two-year, $6.3 million contract the Winnipeg Jets and defenseman Josh Morrissey agreed to on Sunday.
The Oilers opened their preseason Monday night in Calgary against the Flames.
It’s been a week full of injuries, as more and more pitchers hit the disabled list, making arms a premium once again for Fantasy owners.
He’s not a pitcher, but Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez headlines the list of injured players, as the catcher will miss 3-4 weeks for the second straight season.
There are names like John Hicks, Austin Romine, Tucker Barnhart and Tom Murphy who deserve to be owned in Sanchez’ absence. Now, let’s look at some pitchers to help hold down your rotation.
PLAYERS TO PICK UP
ZACH EFLIN, SP, Philadelphia Phillies (42 percent owned in Yahoo) – First it was Nick Pivetta Adrian Amos Jersey , now it’s Zach Eflin. The Phillies are having pitchers who were no more than a healthy arm last season turn into legit standouts. Eflin increased his velocity this year, and he’s adding more swings and misses than a season ago. Like Pivetta, it’s smart to grab him before everyone else in your league takes notice.
ZACK WHEELER, SP, New York Mets (12 percent) – Like Jacob deGrom earlier this season, the Mets struggle to win games for Wheeler. That’s OK, though, as he is holding his own as of late with a reasonable ERA and a good strikeout rate. He won’t live up to the prospect hype that he had when he was moving through the system, but he can be a useful pitcher for your Fantasy roster.
SHANE BIEBER, SP, Cleveland Indians (57 percent) – Bieber was thought to be a guy who wouldn’t register big strikeout numbers, but would help Fantasy owners out in ERA Jay Beagle Jersey , WHIP and Wins. Well, in a small sample, he’s averaging more than a strikeout per inning. Add him wherever he’s available.
ADALBERTO MONDESI, OF, Kansas City Royals (1 percent) – Speed is hard to find. Kevin Kiermaier was a suggested pickup last week as a multi-category contributor, but Mondesi is a deep-league add if you’re desperate for speed.
TWO-START PITCHERS TO STREAM
BRENT SUTER, SP, Milwaukee Brewers (39 percent) – It’s not a great week for two-start pitchers, and Suter underachieved in a juicy matchup against the Royals on Wednesday. He’s worth running out again, though, as he gets the Twins and the Braves in a two-start matchup.
KYLE GIBSON, SP http://www.officialislanders.com/authent...ddy-jersey , Minnesota Twins (34 percent) – Speaking of failing to capitalize, Gibson struggled against the White Sox on Wednesday. Forget that start, though, as he’s been a quality start machine this year. He’ll face a less-than-favorable team in the Brewers in his first start, but he’ll wrap the week up against Baltimore, who struggled mightily against right-handed pitching.
NATHAN EOVALDI, SP, Tampa Bay Rays (7 percent) – Eovaldi impressed this week against the Nationals, allowing just one hit over six innings. He has a date with the Marlins and Mets next week; both of which are terrific matchups.
HITTERS TO STREAM
SCOTT SCHEBLER, OF, Cincinnati Reds (22 percent) – Jesse Winker is starting to come around for the Reds, but Schebler has been the 22nd-best outfielder in Yahoo leagues over the past 30 games as the leadoff hitter for the Reds.
LOGAN MORRISON Youth Brandon Carlo Jersey , 1B, Minnesota Twins (13 percent) – The Twins have seven games next week in Milwaukee and against the Orioles‘ bad pitching staff. There’s only one lefty on the slate, which means Morrison is a sneaky streamer to get in your lineup.
ALEN HANSON, 2B/OF, San Francisco Giants (5 percent) – Hanson has been playing regularly for the Giants, and he’s a contributor across multiple categories, with his standout category being batting average. With three games in Colorado and four more against the all-of-the-sudden questionable St. Louis rotation, Hanson could fill the stat sheets for Fantasy owners.

Long before Alex Smith and Adrian Peterson joining the Redskins was ever a possibility Carl Soderberg Jersey , Trent Williams made up Hogs 2.0 T-shirts for Washington's offensive linemen.
The original "Hogs" offensive line paved the way for three Super Bowl titles, so this group has a long way to go before they can be compared to that group.
But with Williams at left tackle, Shawn Lauvao at left guard, Chase Roullier at center, Brandon Scherff at right guard and Morgan Moses at right tackle, the Redskins have a group that could continue bulldozing the way to victories this season.
"Their versatility is the key," coach Jay Gruden said. "They can run, they can pull, they're strong at the point of attack and they're pretty athletic. You can have a lot of versatility there."
Versatility helped the Williams-led line bully the Arizona Cardinals in run-blocking and pass-protection, something it'll try to do again Sunday in the home opener against the Indianapolis Colts.
Smith put up 255 yards passing in Week 1 and Peterson, Chris Thompson and the rest of Washington's ground game rushed for 182 yards in the kind of balanced showing Williams always believed could happen as long as all five starters are healthy.
"I've been saying the whole time that our biggest issue is just getting everybody on the field," Williams said. "I feel like when we have everybody on the field, we're more than confident that we can handle whatever job the coaches ask us to do.
"Obviously having everybody out there http://www.greenbaypackersteamonline.com...ice-jersey , when we've been out there in the past, we've done pretty good with a balanced offense, with running the ball and passing the ball."
The Redskins ran the ball 42 times and attempted to pass 33 times at Arizona, a balance Gruden would love to keep up. The offensive line's equal proportion of being good in the run and pass games makes that possible.
But no one's quite sure why the Redskins' line is almost equally good in each aspect. Offensive line coach Bill Callahan has linemen work a long time after practice, which gives them extra time to work together and improve any weakness.
"That just allows us to get little things polished up here or there," Roullier said. "Any little extra work you can get on your little fundamental techniques and whatnot, that's going to help you every day while you're out there."
Other than Roullier replacing Spencer Long in the middle, this is the same starting offensive line Washington had to begin last season. Lauvao was re-signed after the draft and plugged back in, and the unit's continuity has been on display.
Peterson said after one preseason game he can't wait to run behind this offensive line, and Smith has learned firsthand just what it can do to protect him and give him some room to run.
"I've been really impressed with those guys," Smith said. "I feel like they can do just about everything. They take a lot of pride in being able to do a lot. They don't get pigeonholed as a single player or as a group. They can do it all: They're good in space, they can pound it, they're good in pass pro. I think that's a strength not only of theirs but obviously ours as an offense and a team."
Of course Jason Spriggs Jersey , the line is only the start of the offense's success. Williams gives a lot of credit for Washington's balance to Peterson and Thompson for making linemen look good.
"It makes our job easy because you got two dynamic rushers who can really take the ball all the way no matter what part of the field you're on and are pretty prolific coming out of the backfield," Williams said. "Having those guys clicking like they were, it does make the O-line's job easier, it makes the quarterback's job easier and it makes the coaches' job easier."
NOTES: Gruden said WR Trey Quinn (ankle) was also placed on injured reserve along with Cam Sims. Each player had ankle surgery and could be healthy in six or seven weeks. ... WR Jehu Chesson was elevated from the practice squad to replace Quinn on the 53-man roster. ... WR Maurice Harris (concussion) could miss the Colts game, making recently signed Brian Quick more likely to be active.
Alex Ovechkin heard the chants loud and clear.
”We want 50! We want 50!”
He didn’t need that extra encouragement. Ovechkin scored twice to finish with an NHL-leading 49 goals and played almost the final two minutes of the Washington Capitals‘ 5-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night in each team’s regular-season finale trying to reach 50 for the eighth time in his career.
The Russian superstar will have to settle for his seventh Maurice ”Rocket” Richard Trophy as the league’s top goal-scorer and hopes his recent run continues in the playoffs, where the Metropolitan Division-champion Capitals will open against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
”Effort was there, and you can see I’m ready for playoffs in pretty good shape,” Ovechkin said after a playing 6:04 of the final 8:10. ”Still have a pretty good chance at the end. It is what it is. Whatever. The most important thing ahead of us, and second season right now starts in a couple days.”
Washington won 12 of its final 15 games, and Ovechkin strengthened his Hart Trophy case with nine goals and six assists over that time. At 32, he’s the oldest player to lead the NHL in goals since Phil Esposito in 1974-75.
Ovechkin became the 13th player and first since Mike Gartner in 1990-91 to score exactly 49 goals in a season. His teammates did their best trying to get him to 50, and Ovechkin attempted 18 shots and got eight on net in pursuit of the milestone.
”We look for him a little bit more than usually, but I don’t know Noah Hanifin Jersey ,” said center Evgeny Kuznetsov, who assisted on Ovechkin’s 48th goal to reach 56 for the season. ”I don’t think he’s sad about he didn’t get 50, but 49 is still a good number.”
Losing in regulation sends New Jersey to the Atlantic bracket in the Eastern Conference to face the division champion: either the Boston Bruins or Tampa Bay Lightning. It’s the Bruins if they beat Florida on Sunday night, and the Lightning if they don’t.
”We like our matchup against anybody,” Devils center Brian Boyle said. ”I think we match up well against anyone. We believe in what we got going on here. We earned the right to be in. It’s been a good season. The fun starts now.”
The Devils didn’t go all-out to try to move up in the standings, resting MVP front-runner Taylor Hall, first-line winger Kyle Palmieri, top-six center Travis Zajac, No. 1 defenseman Sami Vatanen and starting goaltender Keith Kinkaid with an eye toward the playoffs. Trade-deadline pickup Patrick Maroon had a goal and two assists, and rookie Nico Hischier and Miles Wood each scored for New Jersey.
”There’s a reason that you got here,” coach John Hynes said. ”You have to have a strong identity, which we do. You have to be able to play to that.”
The Capitals’ identity is coming into focus as they go into the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season feeling good about their game. Nicklas Backstrom, Michal Kempny and Andre Burakovsky also scored against New Jersey Leonard Floyd Jersey , and Braden Holtby stopped 23 of the 26 shots in his final chance to show he deserves to be Washington’s Game 1 starting goaltender over Philipp Grubauer.
Holtby is 14-2-2 with a 2.62 goals-against average and .914 save percentage in his career against Columbus, which lost to Nashville in its final game while resting stars Artemi Panarin, Seth Jones and Zach Werenski and two-time Vezina Trophy-winning goalie Sergei Bobrovsky.
”They’re a good young team and they have a great goaltender, but for me it doesn’t matter against who you play,” Kuznetsov said. ”It’s just like a fun time. You prepare all year for this moments.”
NOTES: The Capitals rested RW T.J. Oshie, who has been dealing with a lower-body injury. C Jay Beagle missed his third consecutive game with an upper-body injury. … With the primary assist on Kempny’s goal, Capitals F Shane Gersich picked up his first NHL point in his third game. … Ovechkin, Capitals D Dmitry Orlov and John Carlson and Hischier played all 82 games this season.
UP NEXT
Devils: Open at the Bruins or Lightning in their first playoff appearance since 2012.
Capitals: Host the Blue Jackets to start the first round.

It was a bittersweet night for rookie center Mark Jankowski.
Jankowski scored four times Jeff Carter Jersey , and the Calgary Flames finished off a disappointing season with a 7-1 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday.
”Not the way we wanted it to end, we want to keep on playing, but definitely a building year,” said the 23-year-old Jankowski, who had just three points in his previous 18 games. ”I just take everything I learned this year from all the vets and use that as fuel in the summer to come back into camp and even better player.”
Calgary entered the night in an offensive funk, having mustered only nine goals over the previous nine games, eight of them losses. The seven goals was the club’s biggest offensive outburst since a 7-4 victory over St. Louis on Nov. 13.
”It’s one of those things. Tonight, for some reason Womens Randall Cobb Jersey , everything bounced in and I think we could have had even more,” Flames captain Mark Giordano said. ”It’s nice to end it on that note, but it’s been a tough year and obviously a disappointing year.”
Before the game, players from both teams and the officials formed a circle at center ice for a moment of silence for the 15 people who lost their lives in the Humboldt Broncos bus accident.
”You have those guys, that community, the team, on your mind all day,” Giordano said. ”We’re one big community http://www.dallascowboysteamonline.com/d...son-jersey , the hockey community, there’s a lot of people feeling this one.”
Afterward, the Saddledome crowd broke into a chant of ”Broncos! Broncos!”
”We talked a lot to our guys about the emotion and the purity of the game,” Flames coach Glen Gulutzan said. ”Just think about the young men on that bus, who would love to be in the seats that we are. That was their goal and we wanted to play as well as we can to honor that.”
Spencer Foo, Garnet Hathaway and Johnny Gaudreau also scored for the Flames (37-35-10), who missed the playoffs for the seventh time in the past nine seasons. A big factor was Calgary’s 17-20-4 home record, its worst mark since 2000-01.
Cody Eakin scored for Vegas (51-24-7) Youth Alejandro Villanueva Jersey , which finished first in the Pacific Division and will open the playoffs on home ice against Los Angeles. Vegas is the first modern-era expansion team in any of the four North America pro spots to win its division in its first season.
”Right from the start it’s been a fun season,” goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury said. ”It’s fun to be a part of this team and this organization through it all. I’m really proud of the way this team has done throughout the season. Playoffs are fun, intense, exciting. I’m looking forward to getting it going.”
Golden Knights veteran James Neal was impressed at how quickly the team gelled after being thrown together at the expansion draft.
”What impressed me most about our group is the consistency we played with, the way we rolled four lines, we counted on each player and needed each guy every night and every guy brought their game,” he said.
Down 3-0 after the first period, Vegas scored 51 seconds into the second. But the Flames responded with three more unanswered goals before the period ended.
Jankowski secured his first NHL hat trick with a short-handed goal at 18:06 Authentic Stefon Diggs Jersey , bringing over 100 hats raining down onto the ice.
He completed the scoring at 1:32 of the third. It was Calgary’s first power-play goal in 14 games, snapping a 0-for-35 skid.
Jon Gillies had 26 stops for Calgary. Fleury gave up six goals on 18 shots before being replaced to start the third period. Malcolm Subban had 12 stops in relief.
NOTES: Both teams wore Humboldt Broncos decals on their helmet. The Flames also announced they were donating their $84,055 half of the 50/50 prize pot to those affected by Friday’s tragedy.
UP NEXT
Golden Knights: Face Los Angeles in the first round of the playoffs.
Flames: Offseason.
The Patriots released tight end Martellus Bennett on Wednesday.
Bennett was due a $2 million roster bonus next week. His release will save New England about $6 million in salary cap space.
Bennett joined New England in November of last season after being released by Green Bay for ”failing to disclose a physical condition.”
He started seven games for the Packers in 2017 after signing a three-year, $21 million contract as a free agent. Following his release, Bennett appeared in two games for the Patriots before being placed on injured reserve with hamstring and shoulder issues.
In 2016, Bennett caught 55 passes for 701 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns on his way to earning a Super Bowl ring with the Patriots.
