The New York Jets pulled off the type of victory that even Broadway Joe could appreciate. With Joe Namath and the 1968 Super Bowl-winning squad watching , Jason Myers kicked a franchise-record seven field goals, Sam Darnold threw two touchdown passes, and the Jets held on to beat the Indianapolis Colts 42-34 on Sunday to win consecutive games for the first time in more than a year."The game wasn't perfect, by no means," coach Todd Bowles said. "With the growth of the team, we probably would've lost this one a year ago or a couple of weeks ago. So, to win ugly, for us, is a pretty good thing."Morris Claiborne returned the first of three interceptions thrown by Andrew Luck for a touchdown as the Jets (3-3) moved to .500 by taking advantage of mistakes by the short-handed Colts (1-5), who lost their fourth straight."It's one of those bittersweet victories Youth T.Y. Hilton Jersey ," Claiborne said. "You played well enough to win the game, but you feel like you could've played a lot better. You never want to give up that many points."Darnold was 24 of 30 for 280 yards, with TD throws to Terrelle Pryor and Chris Herndon and an interception to give New York its first back-to-back victories since taking three in a row in Weeks 3-5 last season."We're definitely back in the thick of things," Darnold said. "But at the same time, we're not satisfied."Myers hit field goals from 30, 48, 32, 37, 45, 37 and 45 yards to break the Jets record previously held by Jim Turner (1968) — the kicker for the Super Bowl champions — and Bobby Howfield (1972)."It's more important that we got the win," Myers said, "but being able to help out and do what I can that way, that's what's most important to me."Myers' 24 total points are the second-highest single-game total by a player who did not score a touchdown in NFL history. Only the Titans' Rob Bironas, who holds the mark with eight field goals in a game, had more: 26 on Oct. 21, 2007.Luck was 23 of 43 for 301 yards with touchdowns to Marcus Johnson , Eric Ebron, Erik Swoope and Chester Rogers, the last coming with 1:51 left to make the score close. Neal Sterling recovered the Colts' onside kick to seal the win for the Jets.It all had Luck pondering whether it's tough finding the joy in football."At times, especially when I do things — stupid is the only word that comes to mind," he said. "We do some silly things to ourselves, but when it comes to having fun playing, I'm having fun playing."The Colts were playing without several starters, including wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, defensive linemen Denico Autry and Margus Hunt, tight end Jack Doyle, safety Clayton Geathers and right tackle Denzelle Good.Trailing 13-10 in the second quarter, the Jets forced a turnover when Jamal Adams knocked the ball out of Robert Turbin's hands and Jordan Jenkins recovered.Darnold converted two third-down plays on the ensuing drive — 19 yards to Robby Anderson and 7 to Jermaine Kearse — to get the ball to the Colts 10. Darnold zipped a pass to Pryor in the front of the end zone for a 17-13 lead with 2:35 left before halftime.New York took advantage of another turnover when Luck's pass to Ryan Grant deflected off the receiver's hands and right to Avery Williamson, who returned the ball 31 yards to the Colts 22.After Myers' 48-yarder, the Colts went three-and-out and the Jets got the ball at their 28 with 42 seconds left before halftime. Darnold hit a series of passes and, with 18 seconds left, found Kearse in the middle of the field for 23 yards. Myers booted a 32-yarder as time expired to put New York up 23-13.Darnold came out firing to open the second half Joe Haeg Jersey , scoring on a terrific play design — a fake wide receiver screen — to a wide-open Herndon for a 32-yard touchdown . It was the first TD of the rookie tight end's career.Luck answered right back, throwing an 18-yard touchdown pass to Ebron to cut the Colts' deficit to 10.After Myers' 37-yarder, the Colts came right back, with Luck throwing a 2-yard pass to Swoope to cut the deficit to 33-27 just 8 seconds into the fourth quarter.Myers added a 45-yarder, giving the Jets scores on six straight possessions.Luck was trying to answer again when Darron Lee picked him off on third down to give the Jets the ball at the Colts 25. Four plays later, Myers' 37-yarder made it 39-27."It's a bit frustrating," Luck said. "I feel a bit like a broken record. Talking about it is the easy part. It's doing it. It's living it."QUICK STARTOn the Colts' second play from scrimmage, Luck threw short to Marlon Mack, Adams tipped the pass into the air and Claiborne grabbed it, zipping 17 yards into the end zone 12 seconds into the game.Luck and the Colts rebounded on their next drive with a 34-yard catch by Johnson to tie it at 7.RODGERS' RETURNJets defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers, who has not been coaching the last two weeks while dealing with an unspecified illness, was on the field before the game and watched from a box in the stadium."He was a casual observer," said Bowles, who called the defense for the second straight game. The Jets tweeted out a video of a happy Rodgers breaking down the team in the locker room after the win.CROW SLOWSIsaiah Crowell had 40 yards rushing on 13 attempts after setting a franchise record last week with 219 on 15 carries. He dealt with an ankle injury all week and was questionable to play.INJURIESColts: Turbin left with an injured right shoulder after his fumble and didn't return. ... Grant injured an ankle in the second half and didn't return. ... Johnson injured his right ankle late in the game and was helped to the locker room.Jets: WR Quincy Enunwa injured an ankle on his fumble in the second quarter and didn't return. ... S Marcus Maye left with a hand injury in the third quarter and was seen wearing a cast after the game. He'll have X-rays. ... Bowles said Pryor injured his groin late.UP NEXTColts: home vs. Buffalo next Sunday.Jets: home vs. Minnesota next Sunday.

Colts preseason roster sortable by name , position, and jersey number for opener vs Seattle With preseason action kicking off tonight, Andrew Luck and the first team offense. However, if you plan on watching beyond the first team, you might need some help identifying some of the second, third, and fourth string players. That is exactly what this page is for. Andrew Luck and the first team are expected to get about a quarter’s worth of work before the second team takes over. With this table you can sort the players by number, position, and name. That way you can identify some of those new faces at the bottom of the roster as the game goes on. That will be especially important as we look to see who might break through and establish themselves out of some of these young guys who are fighting for spots on the 53-man roster. Offense#First NameLast NamePosition#First NameLast NamePositionDefense#First NameLast NamePosition#First NameLast NamePositionSpecial Teams#First NameLast NamePosition#First NameLast NamePositionImpact Plays: Colts vs Patriots week 5 film breakdown, Andrew Luck’s amazing pass Each week, I will look to break down two of the best or worst plays (or situations) from the previous game, but I’ll be listening to Stampede Blue to choose which plays should given a closer look as I hope to explain what happened in greater detail than the broadcasters can. Often you’ll hear “how did that guy get so open?” and I hope to be able to answer that question for Colts fans this season. The Colts weren’t able to pull off what would have been a massive upset against the Patriots. It shouldn’t have surprised anyone who doesn’t actually play or coach for the Colts, but losing to the Pats is always disappointing. I knew it would end in a loss, I believed that in the days and weeks leading up to the kick, yet when it actually happened I was truly upset. Football games rarely upset me anymore Joe Haeg Jersey , it’s weird because all throughout my 20’s watching the Colts lose would ruin my entire Sunday. Since I’ve started breaking down so much tape I find myself less and less upset, I’m not less of a fan now, but I look at the game in a less emotional way. The Patriots, for reasons you can probably guess, bring that emotion back out. This weeks poll chose Chester Rogers deep drop on 2nd down late in the 3rd quarter and Sony Michel’s long touchdown run. The Rogers drop wasn’t the play I expected everyone to choose, but after looking at the play, I’m glad it won. The Michel run is less surprising but frankly, it’s also less interesting, so we’ll get it out of the way first! Before this play Sony Michel had 15 carries for 58 yards. We can’t discount this run, it happened, but he was averaging less than 3.9 yards per carry, in a game the Pats were dominating. This play is a disappointment but so far it’s a bump in the road for the run defense that hasn’t had many bumps along the way. This is God’s play. Power. You can find this play being run (maybe not out of this formation but this play) at every level of football, in every country that plays American football. There’s nothing special about it, there’s nothing inventive, nothing that the Colts defenders haven’t seen thousands of times before. Do you know why Authentic J'Marcus Webb Jersey , after decades and decades, teams still use power? Teams still run power because you can run it 100 times and gain 1-5 yards each time and on the 101st you get the play above. Power works. It has always worked and if you have decent players who execute at a high level, it will always work, eventually. Now that you’ve read about my personal love of power, what really makes Sony Michel’s run possible comes down to two key blocks. The first is from the left tackle and guard. This is a perfectly executed deuce block, seriously it’s better than examples you’ll find almost anywhere. If you coach offensive linemen and you needed to teach a perfect deuce block, this is the clip you’re going to show. They start by doubling up the defensive tackle, getting good movement until the left tackle releases to block the backside linebacker. The second block that broke this play wide open isn’t from the pulling guard, it isn’t from Rob Gronkowski both of those were good blocks, but honestly those should be expected. The block I’m talking about is Julian Eldeman’s block on the cornerback. If Eldeman, doesn’t make that block no one is going to blame him (outside of Bill Belichick) he’s a wide receiver. Instead his effort ensures that Michel goes nearly untouched. Had he not made that block the corner on that side, at the minimum pushes Michel into a different angle toward Matthias Farley and this play likely ends 10-15 yards down field. The Colts came out in an alignment that made this play possible, but had they come out ready to stop the run, Tom Brady would have changed the play anyway. The problem, for the Colts really comes down to the fact that no one made a play and the Patriots executed perfectly. It was a well timed play for the Pats and the Colts weren’t able to overcome it. I saved this play for the last because it really excited me when I realized what happened. The Patriots send five pass rushers and on the back end they’re playing a man cover one Youth Chester Rogers Jersey , which just means that they’re playing man to man with a single safety high to protect deep. This angle doesn’t really show why I’m excited about this play. It’s a pretty run of the mill design, against different coverage I might have been excited about the design but these are just iso routes against man. No big deal. Until you see the endzone angle:Look at what Andrew Luck sees. His wide receiver has a step on the cornerback but the cornerback has help over the top coming from the middle of the field. Luck saw that and he realized that he has to fit this ball over the top of the corner but away from the charging safety, while still throwing a catchable ball. This is a nearly impossible throw. The arm strength and touch combined with the timing and anticipation is nothing short of elite. This is an elite level throw and Andrew Luck, the guy we were all told for months was done (and a lot of people reading this article probably believed in some conspiracy to sell season tickets and that Luck was done), had not only the physical ability to make this amazing throw but he had the confidence that he could. You don’t make this throw unless you’re sure you can do it. If anyone had any doubts that Andrew Luck was back, or completely right, or healed, or whatever description anyone wants to give it, you can’t watch this play and objectively say there’s something wrong with Andrew Luck. His arm is back. His mind is back. If anyone can put a team around him, these next 10 years can still be very, very exciting.

win against the Dallas Cowboys , it did not come without a cost.Three-time Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen spent the second half watching the game from the sideline on crutches with his right foot in a boot — the same foot he fractured in 2017 causing him to miss nine games. Later in the game, second-team All-Pro right tackle Daryl Williams was carted off with a knee injury and did not return.Panthers coach Ron Rivera and general manager Marty Hurney offered no immediate updates Monday on the extent of the injuries."I've told you this, and I'll tell you again: I have not talked to RV (head athletic trainer Ryan Vermillion)," Rivera said Monday. "I usually wait until after this (news conference). It's a question I'm not going to answer. I don't know (the extent of the injury), to be honest with you."The Panthers are expected to turn to rookie Ian Thomas to start Sunday at tight end against Atlanta, while Amini Silatolu will likely fill in at right tackle. The Panthers are high on Thomas, who they think has the combination of receiving and blocking skills to be a good fit in their offense, even though he only played two seasons of major college football at Indiana."I think he's pretty well prepared," Rivera said. "There are some things, obviously, that he still has to learn and he has a long way to go in terms of having the natural feel that Greg has and having that rapport Greg has."He's been good with his blocking, he's been good with his route running, he's been good with his receiving. But he's got to get better as a route runner, a blocker and a receiver. He's a young guy. There's a lot to his game he's got to learn."When the Panthers drafted Thomas with the first pick in the fourth round this year they did so with the idea of bringing him along slowly and learning behind Olsen. He was a project, more or less. But now everything has been fast-tracked."It's like going right into the fire and playing right away," Thomas said. "Learning from my mistakes every play. I played two years of college football but I guess now is my time to get all of the kinks out."Thomas said he spoke to several teams before the NFL draft and walked away feeling that some of them felt like he wasn't a good blocker. He disagrees and is out to change that image."I felt like I have gotten much better over the last few months," Thomas said.As for Williams, he dislocated his kneecap and tore the medial collateral ligament in training camp but managed to return for the season opener, which was no small feat. But he injured the same knee against the Cowboys when he got hit there by another player's helmet.Silatolu, who had pretty much won the starting left guard spot before his own knee injury in preseason, will test his ware at the tackle spot if called upon to start.Cowboys vs. Texans 2018 Week 5 game: Cowboys punt it back in OT, Texans kick the field goal sending Dallas to 2-3 OVERTIMECowboys win the toss and elect to receive but after failing to pick up a 3rd and 1, they punt it back to the Texans. Watson finds Hopkins, who runs for 27 yards after three Cowboys fail to tackle him, the Texans can end it on a field goal. Just flat out depressing.Fourth QuarterAfter a great punt return from Tavon Austin, the Cowboys line gets pinched and Dak goes down. It’s 3rd and 14, Cowboys can’t convert, they punt it back but DeMarcus Lawrence gets to Watson as he throws...INTERCEPTION...Xavier Woods! This game is headed to overtime!Remember Romodini...Well, take a look at this DAKTAKULAR play!!! They can’t get the conversion but Brett Maher drills another to tie it up at 16. Cowboys defense gets off the field and the offense will get the ball with under four minutes to play. After Byron Jones gets called for a PI in the end zone, the Texans try a run on 1st and goal...nope. On 2nd and goal Watson tries to sneak it...not happening. Then on 3rd and goal, pass incomplete. Texans are turned away from six and settle for three. Texans lead Cowboys 16-13. That’s the Cowboys third goal-line stop of the night.Dak takes off to gain nine-yards to make it 3rd and manageable but Deonte Thompson can’t complete the catch. The Receivers have been no help to Dak Prescott tonight. Cowboys punt it back to Houston and then the Texans pick up a first down on third down thanks to a Randy Gregory penalty.Third QuarterEzekiel Elliott pops off two nice runs but one is called back because of a Connor Williams holding call. We head to the fourth quarter tied at 13.On the Cowboys ensuing drive, a really questionable challenge by Jason Garrett Youth Sean Lee Jersey , which he loses. Dak Prescott is sacked on third down by Jadeveon Clowney. Cowboys and Texans exchange quick punts.Thankfully, this defense came to play, Byron Jones contests the fade to DeAndre Hopkins and Leighton Vander Esch keeps them out of the end zone. Texans tie up the game with a field goal.Every single interception that Dak has thrown has been off the hands of his receivers. You can blame Dak for placement but if it hits your hands...come on...knock it down, maybe? Something, fellas! The Cowboys get a favorable penalty that gives them possession at the 20 but then...ball bounces off Thompson’s hands and it’s intercepted by Justin Reid...or was it? Sorry, Dez Bryant but the ball can hit the ground now.Ezekiel Elliott takes the screen to the Houston-7, a few short plays later, Dak Prescott to Allen Hurns TOUCHDOWN! Cowboys lead 13-10.On 3rd and 3, Anthony Brown forces DeAndre Hopkins to FUMBLE, Jourdan Lewis returns it to the Houston-16.HalftimeTexans 10, Cowboys 6Second QuarterWatson finds DeAndre Hopkins over the middle, did he score? Nope, Jeff Heath drops him at the one. On 4th and goal, Watson keeps it but Jaylon Smith lays him out for the huge goal-line stand. No points was a savior for the Cowboys, down four at the half!Right at the 2:00 minute warning, the Cowboys sneak it on 4th and inches after a questionable spot. Dak looking for Tavon Austin is a tad high, it’s tipped and picked by Houston. Tavon should have made that catch but alas no points for the Cowboys. Texans have a shot to score before the half and are in the red zone on a big run by Alfred Blue.Texans take the ball down the field after Xavier Woods is called for a personal foul. Daniel Ross blows up the pocket on 3rd and Goal, Texans settle for the FG, Texans up 10-6.Cowboys start at their own 25, Ezekiel Elliott breaks off a 14-yard run, then Dak runs for six more. La’el Collins gets a false start on 2nd and 4 but the Cowboys get the five back on an offsides. On 3rd and 4, Dak overthrows Cole Beasley and it just barely escapes Jonathan Joseph, who almost picked it. Cowboys punt.On first-and-goal, the Texans have a false start. Watson takes off on back-to-back plays but Jeff Heath lays him out at the one. On 3rd and goal, a shovel-pass from Watson to Keke Coutee gets the score. Texans take the lead, 7-6.First QuarterThe Texans offense is back on the field and facing a third and three, Byron Jones gets beat on a slant for 34-yards, Texans with a 1st and goal.Cowboys back on the move with a really nice completion to Rico Gathers for 32-yards but drive stalls at the HOU-26. Brett Maher nails a 43-yarder, Cowboys 6-0.Texans pick up a few first downs with some improvisation from Deshaun Watson but Jaylon Smith gets him down for a tackle for loss then on a 3rd- and 11, Smith is there again. Cowboys force the field goal and Houston MISSES it. Score remains 3-0 Cowboys.Cowboys lost the toss, Texans defer, so the Cowboys offense got the start in this one. After two straight plays for nothing Color Rush Byron Jones Jersey , Dak Prescott connects with Allen Hurns for the first down. Rod Smith then rumbles through and turns a loss into a gain. Dak Prescott hit Geoff Swaim on a screen for 42-yards!! Cowboys come short in the red zone on third down but Brett Maher puts a 27-yarder through and Dallas lead 3-0.PregameInactives:Cowboys: QB Mike White, LB Sean Lee, OG Xavier Su’a-Filo, TE Dalton Schultz, DT David Irving, DT Maliek CollinsTexans: WR Vyncint Smith, CB Aaron Colvin, ILB Brian Peters, OLB Daeshon Hall, T David Sharpe, DE Carlos Watkins, DE Christian CovingtonWhen you are digging out of an early-season hole, every game is huge. Once Dallas found themselves at 1-2, they knew they needed to string some wins together. Last week, they started the process by beating the Detroit Lions. Now, they need to continue it by winning on the road against the Houston Texans. The Cowboys offense woke up last week with a 400+ yard game and they put 26 points on the board. They will need more of the same this week, and you know that Ezekiel Elliott is going to be a big part of that plan. Zeke had a huge day last week on the ground and through the air. Of course, J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney will be looking to disrupt both the passing game and the running game. Dak Prescott will have to remain composed in the pocket and make wise choices with the football. If the Texans get to aggressive, he might use some read-options and RPOs to punish them. The Cowboys defense will have to contend with a powerful Texans offense orchestrated by quarterback Deshaun Watson. The Texans are pretty good at moving the ball and racking up yards, but they don’t convert those into points at the rate they should. The Cowboys defense could really use a couple of turnovers in this game. The team has struggled in that area.   FanPulse: Dallas Cowboys fans have almost no confidence left in the team
User Avatar Forum: Airdrop Collection
Posted by: panxing18 - 11-15-2018, 01:15 AM - No Replies

All season long we’ve been tracking the confidence levels of Cowboys fans with SB Nation’s FanPulse tool. This has helped us figure out how those that root for America’s Team think and feel week to week. The Week 3 loss rattled Cowboys fans to quite a degree Authentic Tyron Smith Jersey , dropping them all the way to 6% confidence left in the franchise. A win against the Lions helped refill an empty tank, but we’re basically running on fumes now.Confidence in the Cowboys has never been lowerIf you thought that Cowboys fans felt low after losing to the Seahawks then you haven’t seen anything yet. In the defense of supposed confidence in the team here, we did all just watch the Cowboys lose in overtime to the Texans partly because they failed to go for it on 4th and 1 from the Houston 42-yard line.FanPulse has taught us more than the confidence levels of fan bases throughout the season. In just over a month Cowboys fans have really soured on Dak Prescott as the team’s starting quarterback, and they blame this season’s struggles primarily on Jason Garrett. It’s not hard to realize that the season-low confidence isn’t just because the Cowboys lost last week but more about how they lost. It’s possible to feel confidence in the state of a team even when they’re losing, but it feels like the Cowboys are finding ways to lose instead of simply being beat. Dallas has struggled on the offensive side of the ball week in and week out this season. We know that they have abilities on defense but looking completely broken on the side of the ball that scores points would shake even the strongest of fan bases. Confidence is down across the struggling NFC East as a wholeFanPulse results are calculated after an NFL week is completed, so this week’s were done before the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants played on Thursday Night Football. It’s not hard to figure that G-Men supporters are going to dip hard next week while Eagles truthers rise, but the point remains that the division as a whole is quite bad this season. Grid View While the rest of the division is down nobody is as down as the Cowboys and perhaps that’s just an indication at how rabidly passionate this fanbase is. There’s almost no room left to fall for Cowboys fans, Giants fans will learn what this is like next week, and it’s hard to imagine that things could get worse in terms of morale. The Jacksonville Jaguars are up next and we’ll see how things go.At this point what else can go wrong?Point/counterpoint: Is the Cowboys defense really a top 10 unit, or not? The Dallas Cowboys have gotten off to a 2-2 start, partly due to inconsistent play from the offense. The defense has been much more reliable Womens Maliek Collins Jersey , keeping them in all of their games so far. But there may have been some signs of trouble against the Detroit Lions, even though that wound up in the win column. Now they are headed for a Sunday night game at the Houston Texans, with Deshaun Watson and another pretty high-flying offense. And like Detroit, Houston is a one-win team looking to keep its season from getting worse. So can the Cowboys rely on their defense, or is there trouble coming right there in the Bayou City? Our Tom Ryle and Michael Strawn debate.Michael: I was quite interested in how the Cowboys’ defense would play because the Lions would, in my opinion, be the first time this Cowboys’ defense would go up against a top NFL passing unit. Over the past five years or so, the Dallas defense has been pretty stubborn against a majority of NFL offenses. However, they have consistently struggled against top-tier passing units. Aaron Rodgers in the 2014 and 2016 playoffs; Ben Roethlisberger, Kirk Cousins and Matt Stafford in 2016; Phillip Rivers last year. Teams with potent passing games have often been able to slice and dice the Cowboys’ pass defense. So I was disappointed in what we saw Sunday. First, the play of Demarcus Lawrence was , again, at an All-Pro level. And that’s good because as outlined here had Lawrence not made those sacks each probably would have resulted in big plays for the Lions. The lack of pressure from the rest of the “hot boyz” (I truly hate that name) hasn’t been better than what we’ve seen in the past. Taco Charlton, Randy Gregory and Dorance Armstrong were touted as providing Dallas with the most talent and depth at the DE position we’ve seen in years. The production simply hasn’t been there.Combine that with a secondary that looked shaky Sunday and we again saw an elite passer having his way. That makes me worried considering this team still have to face Carson Wentz (twice), Alex Smith (also twice), Matt Ryan and Drew Brees.Tom: Yeah, but those sacks did happen, and as I mentioned earlier this week, there is a lot of teamwork involved in getting any sacks. Meanwhile, the Texans are the second worst team in the league at protecting the passer. I think the pass rush is going to harass Watson all game. He is a very good passer, but it is highly unlikely he is going to be able to deliver the pinpoint passes that Stafford kept dropping in. That should help Chidobe Awuzie have a much better game - and Byron Jones is emerging as one of the top shutdown corners in the league. Add in a linebacking corps that didn’t show any real problems in the absence of Sean Lee, and I think the defense is going to rebound. And we may see the return of David Irving as well. He remains a bit of an unknown quantity after his long layoff Youth Sean Lee Jersey , but he may be a bit of an X factor. Nonetheless, I have faith that this team can slow down the Texans. With the way the rules increasingly favor the offense, you can’t really stop a team like Houston completely. But this group is good enough to do their part in getting a win.Michael: Again, color me skeptical. The defense has surrendered something like eight 20+ yard passes the last two weeks, including four long touchdowns. Two weeks ago we heard the defense was going to eat up a vulnerable Seahawks offensive line and Russell Wilson sat all comfy in the pocket most of the day. We haven’t even gotten to the fact this team is allergic to turnovers - currently on pace for eight for the entire season. Giving up big plays while failing to take the ball away doesn’t sound like a recipe for success. Realize, I’m not saying the Cowboys’ defense is terrible; I’m just saying it’s not the top-ten unit the point and yardage totals indicate.Tom: The yardage is not as important as the points, and this D has been very stingy there, especially with how NFL teams are slinging the ball around and scoring TDs in the current environment. That is what they have to do, and even with Stafford throwing the ball all over the place, they were able to keep the total down. The Texans are averaging exactly what Detroit scored, 24 points a game. With the Dallas offense looking like it is on a bit of an upswing Color Rush Byron Jones Jersey , I think this group is good enough to continue with keeping the score manageable, which would also keep them in that top 10 range. Part of my optimism is based on the obvious anger Kris Richard displayed in the Lions game. Expect him (and Rod Marinelli) to have this bunch ready to go.Michael: I think if we ask this offense to average 24 points per game we’ll be disappointed with the answer. And that’s kind of my point here: this edition of the Dallas Cowboys will go as far as this defense takes them. The offense’s ceiling is middle-of-the-pack; they’re not going to average 375+ yards and 24+ points. That means the defense has to be a dominant unit in order for the team to succeed. They have the makings of a dominant unit. But until they start generating some turnovers and figuring out a way to stop high-powered passing attacks they’ll continue to be mediocre.Tom: I think this will be the game they break through the turnover barrier. And as I said, I think the offense is coming around, and you can’t overlook what Ezekiel Elliott can do now that he seems to have found his groove. But mostly, I think the talent on this defense is going to prove out. There are going to be ups and downs, but I really believe they will get better going forward. I have a lot of faith in Richard.

The Cowboys face a very important road trip on Sunday Ed note:

Our guest writer and ex-Cowboys player Tony Casillas is back with his thoughts on road trips. After a much needed win over the Detroit Lions Womens Deonte Thompson Jersey , the Dallas Cowboys go on the road to face the 1-3 Houston Texans. In the Jimmy Johnson era losing wasn’t tolerated, especially on the road. I remember when we lost to the Washington Redskins coach Johnson was so mad that when our plane landing was delayed because of inclement weather, he told the pilot to “land the plane right now!” That is a true story. The fact of the matter is that road trips are good, especially if you’re trying to create momentum and surpass a .500 record. I always thought as a player that good teams can win anywhere. There’s this feeling of cohesiveness when a team goes on the road. It’s a business trip with no distractions from family being in town, or people asking for tickets, or any number of things people don’t see behind the curtain. And last but not least, there is always the competition of who’s going to make a fashion statement as “the best dressed man.” Those are some the benefits of being on the road. Don’t get me wrong, playing at home is an advantage. Even so, with the Cowboys fan base throughout the country, especially in Houston, it may not be your typical hostile environment , and a great place for the Cowboys to win and get to a 3-2 record. Road Trip! Road Trip! Golden Tate caught the pass from Matthew Stafford in stride along the sideline, then slowed briefly to hold the ball out and show it to the defender before going into the end zone to put the Detroit Lions ahead with just over 2 minutes left in the game. There was also a 45-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown in the first quarter, a play on which Tate high-stepped his way down the other sideline before making a diving defender miss and then turning around to back into the end zone.Tate caught all eight passes thrown his way for 132 yards, but the Lions lost 26-24 on Sunday when the Dallas Cowboys got the ball last and kicked a field goal as time expired."For me personally, this sucks because celebrating stats by yourself is just no fun, and to me means nothing," Tate said. "Celebrating a big win and having bonus of stats, that's what you want to do."A week after the Lions (1-3) beat New England and new coach Matt Patricia's old boss, they couldn't hold on at the end in Dallas. As for his showboating entries into the end zone, including the late 38-yard score, Tate said he let his emotions get away from him and called it selfish play on his part. After Tate's first touchdown , Patricia said something to him on the sideline. The coach said after the game that he didn't remember what he said, then offered, "Probably good job on the touchdown."When asked more specifically, the coach indicated that was an in-house issue that would stay that way."Obviously a lot of things could happen, a lot of bad things can happen, so just celebrate once you're in the end zone," Tate said. "At the end of the day, I am having fun, but I've got to put the team first."Tate, a ninth-year receiver, said the Lions want to be a disciplined group and that he has to lead by example."I can't show that to the younger guys so they think it's OK Authentic Zack Martin Jersey ," he said. "I've got to fix it."Detroit led 24-23 after Tate's second touchdown with 2:17 remaining, but the Cowboys then got in position for Brett Maher's 38-yard field goal on the final play of the drive. On the first play after the 2-minute warning, rookie defensive end Da'Shawn Hand got to Dak Prescott, knocking the ball out. But the Cowboys quarterback was able to scoop up the fumble and roll out to throw the ball away. That came right before Prescott's 34-yard pass to running back Ezekiel Elliott deep into Detroit territory."You go through a lot of emotions, it's up and down, but you've got to stay focused, you've got to stay in the moment, you've got to go out and execute, and that's the way the game is," Patricia said. "There's such a fine line in this league between winning and losing."
